Nice hotel! However, we did not feel very welcome...

We had booked a suite. Very spacious and attractively furnished. The bathroom was also very comfortable and large.
Unfortunately, the room was located at a corner of the hotel. That means the wind howled and made noise quite a bit. Not suitable for noise-sensitive people.
Unfortunately, the blinds do not completely darken the room.
The spa area was sufficient for us. One sauna, two hot tubs.
Towels are available. Tap water for drinking is available.
Clean!
The bar was beautifully designed. Unfortunately, the bartender was completely overwhelmed. One orders at the counter and ideally takes the drink right away.
During happy hour, he was alone and unable to handle the crowd.
We had dinner at the restaurant one evening. The staff did not seem very motivated. One did not feel very welcome. Guests who arrived after us got up and left because they were not served.
Breakfast: Loud, chaotic, unorganized.
The coffee in the thermoses tasted like instant coffee powder.
We actually liked the hotel very much.
Unfortunately, we were somewhat disappointed with the staff in the restaurant/bar.
At this price, we expected something different.

Unfortunately, for the high price they charge, this hotel is not worth it.
I paid more than 600 dollars for one night, one person, and for that price I expect more. The hotel does require some renovation which is visible (flooring missing in some places, marks on walls, the spa outside etc).
The staff on arrival was ok but in general not so hospitable. My perception was that they were perhaps not so experienced or trained in hospitaly management.
I remembered later that it said in my booking that I had a free drink included but no one said anything about that. The breakfast was good and the variety ok.
The spa environment outside was not so inviting- one tub was witout water, "woodendoors" piled next to the tubs and walls hiding the beautiful views (I know its for the weather but still looks a bit closed in).
For this price I expect much more - if it was less than 300 dollars my experience would be slighlty more positive.
All in all, if the price is still high when you book - go somewhere else. Continue to the hotels past Jökulsarlon - youll get more value for your money there.

We stayed at the Foss hotel, Glacier Lagoon for two nights because it's location is perfect for glacier hikes and visiting the Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach. The hotel is smart and clean and seems to have good green credentials. The food was excellent (breakfast and dinner) although the breakfast bar did get exceptionally crowded on the one morning. Our room had a beautiful view out towards the sea. It was very comfortable but did get excessively hot as we were staying there in unusually warm weather and there were no controls to cool the room. The small window only provided relief when we opened the door into the corridor to allow the hot air to blow through. next to the hotel is a beautiful waterfall which is well work the 5 minute stroll to admire.

The room was unbelievably hot. We asked for more coffee for the room for the pod machine. They tried to charge us. We tried to go to the bar to ask for something and were ignored. Awful experience for the money
