very comfy hotel with free coffee and tea, very clean spaces and good wifi, our room was quite small though

well priced hotel by the lake at golden circle route

Hotel Laugarvatn is located next to Lake Laugarvatn and also the Laugarvatn Fontana geothermal baths on the Golden circle route. The hotel does have a front desk but I rarely saw anyone sitting there. However, day before arrival, I received an email with the room number and passcode to the room electronic lock.

Very affordable by Iceland standards. I would rate the hotel as great value
Beautiful surroundings and great location on the Golden circle route

Did not see anyone at the front desk during the stay. Not sure how issues get resolved if any issues.
Very limited dining options nearby. Hotel has a restaurant that appeared busy and only a couple of restaurants nearby.

First it was hard to get I to the lobby, as the door was locked and there was a key code. We could not get into the building for our room with the code, as they had assigned the wrong room.
Inside we had to traverse stairs with all of our bags to get to our floor since there was no elevator.
The bath sink was so small that water splashed onto the floor each time it was used. The shower flooded the floor since the shower curtain did not contain it.
Just not impressed overall.

Unpleasant, really only for when you are passing through!

What a desolate place this is!
Our group consisted of three adults, we had a double room with an extra bed. The reception was unattended and several guests had trouble finding their rooms and using the code to open the room. The breakfast was mediocre, now we are not big eaters so a bowl of yogurt and a cheese/ham sandwich with some vegetables is fine. But that was also said with everything.

What a great find on the Golden Loop! Very convenient and nice to stay outside of Reykjavik. Breakfast fairly basic but good and sufficient. Clean and spacious.
