We had a pleasant stay. Although the room was small, it was well maintained and very clean. The bed and comforter were comfortable, and the towels were plush and of good quality. The staff were warm and welcoming. The only drawback was that the shower pressure was somewhat low, and the water did not get sufficiently hot for my preference.

Bad hotel run with remote control.

There are two hotels in this town of 800 people. One belongs to a hotel chain and offers a restaurant bar and rooms with four-star standard. The other offers rooms under 12 m2 with sloping roofs and no restaurant. How to get the idea as a tour operator (chameleon). Booking the hotel with tiny rooms, no elevator and no restaurant is a mystery to me. In our case, anyway, the tour operator Chameleon has decided so. The rooms are tiny, with sloping roofs, a sliding door to the bathroom. There is no elevator, but a steep staircase found, over which you can then carry your heavy suitcase up. There is not a single hanger, closet, shelf and suitcase you can only open one after the other. The rooms are extremely noisy. The reception is almost never staffed. Breakfast has already been reviewed in several other reviews. On a positive note, it was not a highlight of our trip. Upon returning after a day out we found tonight that the beds were not made and the coffee cups were dirty after some form of “cleaning”. Coffee bags had not been refilled. Only a few new towels were put on the bed. Of course, no one was available at reception to discuss this topic. We can only recommend staying in the other hotel. Hotel West has received negative reviews of the same name for over ten years and apparently has decided not to change anything. Chameleon has been letting its tour groups stay here since 2018. So why should the hotel change anything? They surf on the “family hotel” number, outperforming the hotel chain, which is better in every respect. Such an attitude can only and must only be punished by complaining to the tour operator and advising against staying here. This is what we want to have done.

Great stay

I was very pleased with the hotel. I got a room with a workspace and a view over Patreksfjörður. The staff was wonderful and gave me a warm welcome. The breakfast was good, always with the scent of freshly baked waffles. I stayed here for a few nights and hardly wanted to leave.

Arrived very jet lagged with no one to check in, no help. Room had sand and hairs on bed. Small. Very small town and long drive to the cliffs. Shortened my stay (already too long) and no refund. Worth less than half charged. Best thing about town was seafood pizza in grocery store (which hotel did nothing to help me find). Very unusual for me in my iceland experience.

Family room not recommended.

Family room is not recommended. Very loud, you can understand every word of the other guests. Worst of all was the bathroom, which smelled extremely cheap perfume - so strong that we left a day early.
