Perfect location, near the beach and 20 minutes walk from old town. The hotel was clean, perfect breakfast, nice views

Mixed experience
I stayed at Alma di Alghero for several nights and found the experience mixed.
The positives are the good location and the pool. The hotel is about a 20-minute walk from the old town, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby. The pool is a nice bonus, especially during warmer days.
Unfortunately, there were several aspects that did not meet my expectations for a 4-star hotel. The reception staff were often unhelpful and came across as unfriendly. The hotel does not offer proper double beds, only two single beds pushed together, which was not comfortable. The mattress and pillows were also uncomfortable.
The hotel itself feels dated and in need of renovation. While the location is convenient, the immediate area around the hotel is not particularly attractive. Even the rooms with balconies do not offer pleasant views, as ours overlooked a car park and what appeared to be a construction or building site.
The service at reception was particularly disappointing. On my birthday, I asked for recommendations for good restaurants in the old town for a special meal. Rather than listening to what I was looking for, I was simply directed to a restaurant the hotel appeared to be promoting. Throughout the stay, it felt as though staff were not interested in helping guests and could not be bothered to provide thoughtful assistance or local recommendations.
Noise was a major issue throughout my stay. I was woken up early every morning by noise from other rooms, housekeeping, and activity in the corridors. The soundproofing is very poor, and you can hear almost everything through the walls. If you are looking for a quiet stay and good sleep, this may not be the right hotel for you.
I did not have breakfast at the hotel, so I cannot comment on it, but there are many nearby cafés and restaurants offering cheaper alternatives.
Overall, the pool and location are the main strengths, but the comfort, noise levels, room views, and service were disappointing. In my opinion, this hotel does not meet the standard expected of a 4-star property.

Well-maintained hotel near the beach and old town.
The hotel is within walking distance (about 30 minutes) to the old town, located in the second row from the beach. The parking spaces are a bit tight. We had a room with a sea view and a nice balcony. The breakfast was excellent (freshly squeezed juices) and all the staff were very friendly. The rooftop pool is large and clean. We felt very comfortable.

A great hotel with everything one needs for a vacation.
A nice hotel near the old town of Alghero. A warm and friendly welcome. Great rooms and excellent service. Parking right by the house and a rooftop pool with breathtaking views.

Solid hotel, but too little for the price charged.
Upon our arrival, we initially had a somewhat disappointing first impression. According to the GPS, we seemed to be right in front of the hotel, but initially, we only found construction sites and partially dilapidated buildings. Only upon closer inspection did we notice that the hotel is located in the second row. Unfortunately, the entire immediate area was characterized by numerous construction sites.
The check-in process was smooth, and the staff was very friendly, helpful, and professional throughout our entire stay. This is definitely a plus point of the hotel.
We found the breakfast to be rather simple and lacking in variety.
Our room had a sea view, but it also had a direct view of several construction sites. Additionally, corresponding construction noise was noticeable during the day. Unfortunately, we were not informed about this in advance.
Particularly disappointing for us was the value for money. Due to the concurrently occurring Ironman 70.3, significantly increased prices were charged for our stay. According to our research, the room rates during our stay were about twice as high as at other times. In light of the described circumstances, this surcharge does not seem justified to us.
Overall, the hotel is quite interesting and certainly worth recommending at normal room rates. However, the prices charged during our stay did not seem to us to be in a reasonable proportion to the service provided.
