Are you tempted to fall victim to a double scam?
The date was 3 December 2024.
It had started well.
After breakfast, as we were leaving, I thought I should pay for the reservation without thinking about the fact that it had already been cashed directly by the establishment.
So I put my €52 on the table and we said goodbye to Mr Marogna.
3 days later, when I checked my bank account, I realised that I'd paid him twice.
I wrote to him via the Booking website explaining the situation and asking if it was possible to resolve it amicably.
I didn't get a reply, but within minutes this gentleman sent a notice on the Booking.com website saying that we hadn't been to his place.
Booking.com wrote to me to ask if this was true. I replied that we had been there and that the proof was the room's wifi code, which remained in my phone's settings.
This gentleman has therefore committed a double act of dishonesty, tarnishing the image of this sublime island.
When I looked at the comments, I saw that I wasn't the only one complaining.
