Villa Romeo is an excellent hotel nestled right next to the central station. The property has the old world charm with modern amenities. Loved the patio setting

The hotel itself looked nothing like the photos. The décor was very dated, mismatched and quite tacky, giving the whole place a neglected feel. While we don’t mind staying somewhere older, this property felt particularly run down. There was peeling paint on the walls, visible mould, grimy surfaces and, overall, it didn’t feel especially clean or well maintained. Even when walking down the stairs, several of the stair rods had come completely loose, meaning the whole staircase was a trip hazard.
Even the shower was difficult to use because the shower head wouldn’t stay in its holder, so we had to hold it throughout our showers. Alongside this I was actually very hesitant to even get in there as it was full of limescale and grime.
This hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment and some real care and attention. We were very relieved that we were only staying for one night and would definitely not be coming back.
The one saving grace is the fact it is so close to the station (less than 5 minute walk) but other than that, it’s pretty rough. It’s even in a very sketchy area of Catania which can’t be helped but it definitely added to the whole experience. This is also not a reflection of the staff as they were very helpful and lovely, and they can’t be blamed for the fact the hotel is in complete ruin.

The hotel is relatively close to the train station Catania Centrale, what makes easy to an overnight stay if you have an early flight.
Even though , the surrounding area of the hotel is not pleasant - it was the first time in Sicily I felt unsafe walking at night.
The hotel amenities seems to be old with the wallpaper falling off at some points.
Additionally, the hotel staff was ok - during check in, the receptionist asked to stay with my passport and to give me later so he could do the check in process (something I’ve never experienced before), which is course I refuse and waited in the front desk until I could have my passport back.
Overall, not a great experience.

Great location near the central train station

We were just there for a one night short visit as we flew into Catania and took the train out the next morning. That said, the hotel is right across the street from the central train station making it very convenient if you have train travel plans. The room was spacious and the breakfast was delicious, out on the beautiful Terraza.

Catania old dame with good old fashioned service

Quite dated hotel that is need of an update. However everything else makes for a lovely stay in Catania. Close to the station, big room, fabulous staff and a delightful breakfast courtyard. The breakfast was also excellent.
Needed to be a little further away from the main road as it’s noisy. A room facing the courtyard would be better. Book directly with hotel if you can, for a better rate.
