Ideal Retreat

Visiting our family nearby, my wife and I were delighted with Poggio Al Sole, a stunning locale that quickly felt like home, as well as the perfect sanctuary to withdraw from the world, focus on the natural beauty of the Tuscan countryside, and plan our days’ excursions into Florence. Antonetta was especially caring and considerate, which made us feel comfortable and at home immediately!

Wonderful combination of easily visiting busy Florence and enjoying nearby calm and green Tuscan hills. Nightingales!

Beautiful green scenery in hills overlooking Florence down the valley. Amazingly, nightingales singing at night. Fine room. Lovely home made Italian breakfast. Welcoming and calm atmosphere. Pool only open on warm days. Easy to get into busy Florence by car, or car and then bus from nearby Fiesole.

The best hosts, the most beautiful, peaceful surroundings.

Absolutely first rate. The attention to detail, the kindness of our hosts, the clean room and the peaceful surroundings - we could not have enjoyed it more.
We stayed in a superior room, in the barn next to the farmhouse. The place is small enough not to feel like there are lots of guests - we had the little pool to ourselves for most of the day. There are plenty of places to sit and sunbath or lounge in the shade. It was recommended we hire a car but we just wanted complete peace and this is what we got. So many butterflies too. Our view out to the Tuscan hills, the very clean pool, the incredible kindness of Serena who, being in Florence when we were there, gave us a lift back (which saved us getting two buses). Her mother is just as lovely and prepared a great choice for breakfast. Such a peaceful stay. Highly recommended, we would come back again and again.
They are also world champion olive oil produces and sell their own saffron. Leave room in your case to take some home.

Superb Views, Superb Care

Antonietta and her daughters Serena and Ioli have created a small paradise on their working farm above Fiesole. The main house has a few wonderful rooms with beautiful views of Tuscany. The farmhouse can sleep seven and includes a kitchen. Everything is immaculate, and our bed was very comfy! The breakfasts are prepared lovingly and presented in a charming dining area of the main house. The jams and olive oil are homemade from their own fruit and olive trees. The olive oil wins awards because of its floral component derived by harvesting the crop a bit early. So tasty! The sweets are also homemade. The eggs and meats were superb. The hostesses are always willing to solve any problem. Poggio al Sole is a gem. You will never forget your stay, if you are lucky enough to visit.
