Terrible experience.

One concise phrase: if you know it, avoid it... the receptionist was cordial but, logically, without any sense of responsibility. The manager, whom I called to ask to come to his hotel to resolve an issue with the room (small and uncomfortable bed), responded that he would come the next morning. Addressing the customer in a familiar manner, using 'you' instead of 'sir' as is usual with customers and people who are not known or familiar. Moreover, he allows himself to abruptly end the phone conversation by hanging up without having resolved the issue (perhaps this behavior is called: Rudeness...!). Patience, as they say, the world is beautiful because it is varied...! Thank you. Best regards. Francesco RINZIVILLO.

Experience to forget

Negative points... critical issues:
- The location;
even if you return in the evening, the small square in front is full of unsavory people.
- 70s decor;
With high beds, non-existent and very low nightstands
- A single vending machine at the entrance that replaces a bar
- The rooms;
many with a windowless bathroom, very narrow with a fan that transmits all the odors from the rooms next door (e.g., strong smell of smoke at all hours)
- 1 key card per room;
(just so as not to waste energy because when the card is removed nothing works anymore), but impractical if people need to enter the room at different times
- The air conditioning from the 80s... and veeeery noisy
- Very narrow shower stall with a shower head that doesn't fit into the holder of the appropriate support - so you have to shower with the head in your hand

Location, a blessing and a curse

The hotel isn't the best, it must be said, a bit dirty, cramped spaces, bed a bit uncomfortable, but it's still not a luxury hotel, so it's acceptable.
The area where it is located is strategic, it is close to the subway, not too far from the center, but it is also in an extremely borderline area; I must have been unlucky, but I caught a fight ending as I arrived and a fight with a broken glass bottle the night I was returning. It's fine not to be in front of the gardens of Versailles, but let's say I would avoid returning.

Total degradation.

The hotel is clean, managed by Chinese, the towels smell, the hotel is near Via di Pre and Darsena, the most degraded area of Genoa, an astonishing impact, only homeless people, alcoholics, extremely dangerous for girls or older people, you find yourself among African drug dealers, drug addicts, only Chinese and Bengali shops.. do not look at the price because it is not worth it. It is the worst that can be found in Genoa.. check the location before booking because it is notorious..

It's okay.

I stayed with my family at the Hotel New Alexander between Friday 1 May and Saturday 2 May and we had a great time. We chose this hotel especially for its strategic location near the Aquarium of Genoa, which can be easily reached in a few metro stops. It is also very practical to visit the center of Genoa.
For those arriving from Milan, the property is really easy to reach and the area is convenient and central. The rooms were clean, as were the bathrooms. We also really appreciated the attention to the darkness of the room: despite the absence of roller shutters, the shutters closed well and there were two types of interior curtains, one light and one darker, which allowed you to have total darkness at night.
The double-glazed windows made the room quite quiet and, despite the square below, we did not hear annoying noises. We also liked the breakfast: a good international breakfast both sweet and savory, with a decent choice, including boiled eggs.
Overall it was a positive experience and, having to return to Genoa, I think I would book this hotel again.
