Pleasant stay
Situated high on the mountain above the town the hotel is a little remote from everything else. That means, it's quiet and you get rewarded with a stunning view over the entire valley. We were warmly welcomed by the owners who were very friendly and helpful with all our needs. We'd love to come back but you definitely need a car here or have to be a dedicated hiker as it's a 25 minute steep climb to walk all the way up from Gubbio where all the restaurants are. Big plus: parking is not a problem here, so no hassle with your baggage. We really liked it.

OK but just OK
We stayed in Hotel La Rocca from 23rd to 28th December as part of a group. We were on the first floor. The room and the bedding stank of smoke. This may have been because we were directly over the bar. Stay on a higher floor if you can. The bathroom was Ok. The radiator was very hot. The bedroom was colder and if you wanted the heater on it was very very nosy. The food was poor (apart from the last night and last morning when it better). This may have been because it was Christmas. The price of coffee and prosecco in the bar were very very reasonable.

Inexpensive but not very welcoming
We recently returned from a 6-week trip to Italy during which we stayed at 12 different lodgings. This hotel was below average. It was difficult to get to (we were driving) because it is in the restricted driving zone within the city walls. In addition, the city had the road to the hotel closed for utility work (not the hotel's fault), but it made it very frustrating on our arrival in Assisi. The hotel staff was not very helpful nor friendly, and somewhat surly (probably because it was the end of the tourist season). The room was the smallest one we stayed in 6 weeks; barely enough room to get around the bed. The bathroom was small even by Italian standards (they are all consistently small). The breakfast was the worst we had in Italy; even the coffee was bad (a harsh complaint given that the coffee in Italy is consistently very good). Service during breakfast was slow and not engaged. A few positive things; the room was clean and quiet at night. The hotel has a very nice terrace above the lobby that is quite nice to spend the morning or late afternoon on with a glass of wine. There is free parking outside the wall relatively close to the hotel. The hotel is within convenient walking distance of several restaurants.

Ottima accoglienza e colazione
Splendido e caratteristico hotel vicino alla basilica di Sant'Ubaldo, con tanti pregi, ma anche con qualche inconveniente.
Ottima l'accoglienza da parte dei proprietari che ci hanno fatto sentire a nostro agio anche grazie all'abbondante colazione servita in una particolare sala da pranzo molto bella.
La camera da letto era una doppia dagli spazi sufficienti per due persone, ma il bagno era praticamente inesistente, con la doccia che in realtà era divisa dal resto del bagno solo da una tenda e da un divisorio pieghevole.
L'albergo, come detto, è in cima al monte a ridosso della basilica e le camere hanno una splendida vista, ma è raggiungibile solo con l'automobile o con la bidonvia che lo collega a Gubbio. A piedi non è consigliabile a meno che non amiate le lunghe (ma tanto) passeggiate nella natura.
La struttura, infine, è in un palazzo antico e ristrutturato, ma mi è sembrato che non ci fosse l'ascensore purtroppo non ho pensato a chiedere una volta in albergo, ma dovendo restare solo una notte non vi ho dato importanza.
Nel complesso però è un hotel che mi sento di consigliare, sempreché si opti per una camera un po' più grande.

Panorama bellissimo
Hotel storico con vista panoramica, personale gentilissimo, molto pulito e tenuto bene.
Consigliatissimo per le famiglie, e soprattutto per le coppie.
inoltre se vi passate di inverno vi ritroverete sotto la stella dell'albero di natale più grande del mondo.
