Spectacular view, nice accomodation

We spent eleven days in Moneglia in Residence Cielo e Mare. It was wonderfull time. 8 persons apartment-Acquario is well equiped and has a stunning terrace/balcony. You can reach a whole Moneglia seaside from there. We love it. There is one disadvantage that you have to know before arrival. The road is very narrow and residence is near on the last bus stop of the hill/end of the road. It is about 200 meters above the sea, elevation gain is big. We parked our cars and choose public transport: buses to the city, beach, ships to CinqueTerre, trains to Pisa. It is very convenient and cheaper for sure calming than driving there by car. By foots you will reach "spiaggia" in between 20 minutes. It is good for your health - seroiusly.

Magnificent view

Enjoy a few days in this clean and comfortable place. Cielo e mare is situated in the small village of Lemeglio some 200 meters above Moneglia. It is a long walk up although it is a bit easier once you know the pedestrian shortcuts. There is also a small local bus if you care to wait. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Alternatively Rita is more than willing to drive you to Moneglia or come down a pick if that is what you need. Just call.

You might want to explore some of the hiking routes that passes through the village of Lemeglio, but beware that some these at some points can be very narrow while crossing steep slopes. Good physical condition and sure footedness is required.

Beautiful, somewhat remote location

We enjoyed 6 nights, making use of the excellent facilities (washing machine, cooking/kitchen) and the wonderful views on the balcony that is shared but partitioned from the next door apartment. There was 1 double room and plenty of space for two other doubles in the living area (room 4) but we paid premium prices at above €1000. Linen was an extra cost but already included on our booking. WiFi is available and usually works and there is a vending machine and €0.60 coffee machine. The only negative points were there is no pool, only a large plunge bath on the roof area (which commands impressive views), and it is a long walk into Moneglia: 25mins down, 40 minutes up the 200m climb depending on fitness although there is a bus (you can buy €1.60 single tickets from the tourist office or Edicola tobacconists). We drove from the UK and there was private parking which was occasionally complex to navigate and there was an interesting winding journey to the town. Rita, the host, was excellent with plenty of useful advice and was quickly on hand for any issues such as WiFi or light bulbs failing.
Moneglia is pleasant, not overcrowded with reasonable beaches that can be enjoyed for free depending on location and efficiency of the beach attendants and there are lots of restaurants. Pagoda does great pizza including gluten free (just don’t sit under the tree if birds are hanging out!) and Ruota is excellent, a 5min walk from the hotel, serving a bespoke 5 course fish menu with unrivalled views for around €50 a head including extra wine. The road to Levante is interesting, a one way 3 times per hour dash through the old railway tunnels. The bus usually travels on to the railway station where we caught a train to Vernazza Cinque Terra which is impressive but overcrowded and we enjoyed either a boat ride or walked to Monterosso. Porto Fino was attractive but a bit touristy and pricey and a 1 hour drive away. I enjoyed walking up the track past the accommodation through Lemeglio into the hills above Littorno. Overall an impressive location at a reasonable price for the good facilities and stunning views but there is no substantive pool.

Vacation

Great host wish it hadn't rain so we could have enjoyed the view from the balcony the hotel is definitely on top of the hill not walking distance to town or train but host was great with helping us with transportation

Cielo e mare

A great place to stay.
We left the car and walked to town, 10 mins down and 25 up.
The views are amazing and it's very peaceful
Excellent position just out of the 5 main tourist villages but easy rapid train access. Moneglia is a pleasant town with beach and restaurants.
