Wonderful stay at Palazzo Cartari in August
We had a wonderful stay at Palazzo Cartari. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the hotel’s location in the center of Palermo put us within walking distance of all the major monuments and sights. We traveled with four of us — two adults and two kids — and had two connected rooms with a shared living room, which made the stay incredibly comfortable for our family.
But by far the best part of our stay was the front desk staff, especially Anastasia. She went out of her way to help us with everything we needed, was endlessly kind and patient with our kids, and greeted every request with a genuine smile. My whole family looked forward to seeing her each day. Her warmth, kindness, and her ability to connect with guests from all over the world is truly extraordinary — she’s one of the best front desk representatives we’ve encountered in all our travels. Palermo is lucky to have her. She’s the reason this hotel was a five-star experience for us.
But by far the best part of our stay was the front desk staff, especially Anastasia. Avoid this hotel. The staff was very rude and disappointing. The breakfast was underwhelming. There were armed security/police outside across from the entrance 24 hours a day. This area was near many restaurants and shopping but clearly the need for armed guards outside hotel shows it is not a safe place to stay. Palermo was a dump, trash everywhere on streets and walkways. This hotel was a horrible place to stay with male staff member being rude. Place was a dump.

Stay far away. Horrible hotel.
The hotel certainly isn’t worthy of the 4 stars it alleges to have. King beds are not king. The AC doesn’t work. Breakfast is sub par. The shower is very small and in the bedroom. They have a bathtub, but don’t provide shower gel for the bath tub. Very poorly run hotel. The staff is great, so I blame management for their lack of competence in how an alleged 4 star hotel should service their guests. Stay at the other 4 star across the street.

On the day of your arrival, you came to the property at approximately 9:30 a.m., even though check-in was scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. Although your room was not yet available, we made every effort to prioritize its preparation and assign it to you as quickly as possible. In fact, your room was ready and handed over to you in less than 30 minutes after your arrival, taking into account your long journey and your need to rest immediately.
As you were not satisfied with the initial room, we showed you two additional room options and gave you the opportunity to choose the one that best suited your preferences, without applying any extra charge.
Regarding the air conditioning, we have no record of any malfunction being reported during your stay. As for the shower gel, it was provided to you immediately upon your request.
We were genuinely surprised by your comments regarding the room with the open-plan shower, especially considering that you personally selected that room after we showed you several alternatives in an effort to accommodate your preferences. While we fully understand that you may not have appreciated this particular design feature, it is somewhat contradictory to criticize a room that you ultimately chose yourself.
In light of the above, we find it difficult to understand the reasons for your dissatisfaction, particularly given the care, flexibility, and attention our staff dedicated to you from the moment you arrived.
We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future and provide you with an experience that changes your opinion of our property.

I could... but I don't want to!
Hotel located in the heart of historic Palermo, just a few steps from the main artistic and cultural attractions of the city, a location that undoubtedly represents one of the major strengths of the establishment.
The environments are modern, recently renovated, and maintained in impeccable condition, with a level of cleanliness that deserves special mention. The staff also proved to be always kind, professional, and available, ready to meet the guests' needs with courtesy and attention.
The breakfast room, while not particularly spacious, is well organized and adequately supplied. The offerings are not particularly rich or memorable, and considering the location of the establishment, I would have appreciated the presence of some typical Sicilian specialties, such as cannoli. Nevertheless, the available products were of good quality.
The room was comfortable, welcoming, and well-furnished. The only aspect that I personally did not particularly like was the presence of the shower directly inside the bedroom, a solution that is now common in many modern establishments but which, for personal taste, I do not find particularly functional.
The real negative note of the stay, however, concerns a detail that I consider difficult to justify. In the room, there was a coffee machine with capsules, but using them incurred an additional cost of €1.50 for each coffee consumed. I find this choice inconsistent with the level and price of the establishment. When a guest books a room that is anything but economical, finding a coffee machine in the room naturally leads one to believe that the service is included. Requesting an extra charge for a simple coffee inevitably leaves an unpleasant feeling and represents a discordance that deserves to be noted in an honest and transparent review.
Overall, it is an establishment I recommend for its location, cleanliness, and overall quality of the environments, but it should reconsider some minor commercial policies that risk compromising an otherwise very positive experience.

Room was great, albeit weird with a shower right next to bed. Staff excellent and very helpful. Spa is well worth it (especially after a few hours walking the city). Good central location.
