Best Location to experience Portovenere as a local

I struck gold - and got a better room than expected - I had originally rented the room with the balcony, but it wasnt ready for some reason so Giovani the owner offered me the room upstairs that turned out to be way more than a room .. it was much larger and even had a kitchen and dining area with access off the main pedestrain street - he gave me the option of moving the next day or staying at the same price for the inconvenience - I stayed ...it offered a view to die for as it was slightly higher up and I loved the fact it was like an apartment and I had a fully fuctioning kitchen to prepare some food - I had family staying at one of the hotels at a much higher cost and their room faced in and didnt have a view so they loved visiting my very local style accommodation and we shared wine at the window looking down at the harbour front on quite a few evenings, Giovani was also helpful in advising me on what to see where to catch the bus, direct me to the supermarket etc as I was on a photo trip

Bellissima! Highly recommend!!!

Ottima posizione, pulito, vista meravigliosa! The place is lovely, clean, outfitted with everything needed, and in an absolutely perfect location, with the window opening right onto the waterfront. What a beautiful view. The owner is extremely kind and helpful - upgraded us to a the apartment with kitchen and even let us stay an extra night when we were stuck due to a train strike - grazie mille Giovanni!!!

Nice apartment for a nice weekend

Even though the owner seems quite strange at first look, the apartment is really nice and comfortable. First of all, it weel cleaned. by entering in the apt you have the bathroom (with new fornitures), then a double bed and finally close to the window facing the sea a table and a mini frigo. The room is also equipped with air conditioner,TV and Wifi (even if due to some network issue we could not use internet).
The view from the window/terrace allows you to see the sea and the part of Portovenere on the harbor.
I suggest you this place for a couple-of-day trip, it is also close to the main square of Portovenere.

Portovenere at its best

Truly fantastic position to explore this beautiful part of the world. The room with the balcony, overlooking the harbour, is very pleasant. No access by the car, but with help of Giovani, the owner of the place, we were able to transfer all the luggage from a close by garage to the room.
The town has an excellent atmosphere and the evenings are magical.

Jewel in the crown

If you ever want that authentic experience look no further, this little secret is fantastic and I can't wait to return. Giovanni the owner is born and bred in the area and although his English isn't perfect he can offer some good advice on where to eat and what to see. You need to call him upon arrival and he will come to meet you and lead you to his oasis.
Our room was downstairs and overlooked the water (as can be seen in some of the photos already on-line), the rooms were clean and to a high standard. Parking is an underground car park just as you enter the town, you will need to go around the one way system again to get to it, it's an extremely tight car park so if you have a large car be warned as it is tight, Giovanni also helps with discount on the car park.
As its a B&B breakfast is included but it is offered in a small cafe a door or two down and it isn't big just simple coffee and a pastry so you might want some more, but it added to the charm.
A great place which is well hidden.
