We were looking for a genuinely nice place to end our road trip through Italy, so we were browsing the higher end of the market (around €300 a night). We hesitated between a junior suite in the historic centre and Ara Suites. What a mistake.
For that price, you get a tiny room with nowhere to actually spend time: no chair, no sofa, nothing. I'll take part of the blame here: looking closely at the photos again, what I took for a second room connected to the bedroom was just a mirror. But it is misleading, and the place is called Ara "Suites", not Ara "Rooms".
I'm not even sure why I call it a hotel, because it is nothing like one. No service, no staff. Apparently someone is on site between 9 am and noon, and that's it. We never saw a single person. Instead, I was hounded on WhatsApp to send photos of our passports and pay the tourist tax.
There is no coffee machine in the room, not even a kettle. Don't expect to have a coffee in the morning without leaving the building and walking several hundred metres to find a takeaway. NOTHING is offered on site. The "breakfast" is actually a voucher for a restaurant several blocks away.
On top of that, the walls are shabby (see photos) and paper-thin. You hear everyone next door and above you. It was awful.
I honestly don't understand how this place has such high ratings on Google and Hotels.com. They bear no resemblance to what we experienced.

The receptionist Giulio was fast to respond to any inquiry via WhatsApp and was very accommodating.
The room’s cleanliness is superb.
Looking forward to our next stay here!
