Away from the tourist hustle but not offside

We went to Rome for sightseeing and shopping. Usually we stay close to the Piazza Spagna. But this time we decided to experience something more quiet and authentic. So we booked this B&B and it was a bulls-eye. In the middle of the Prati district, close to the Vatican and excellent connected by public transportation we stayed there for three nights. The room was wonderful, clean, not luxurious but practical and pretty with shower, toilet and bidet. The kitchen provided everything we needed and around the Casa in Prati you will hardly find tourists but a lot of authentic restaurants and bars. Besides the supermarket is also just around the corner if you would use the possibility to have some roman appetizers with some wine on the table in your room. We loved to be there, the host Daniele was super friendly and helped us with advice and action. At this price and these possibilities we will definitely come back!

Tiny room for 2 people, in which you can hardly turn around. Cheap furniture, poor infrastructure. Bathroom not integrated, i.e. you have to walk through the common room to get to it. No breakfast even though it is called a B&B. Absolutely not recommended.

Clean rooms 30 minutes from downtown

This was a nice area to stay in about 30 minutes walking distance from the center of Rome. The one issue I had was the lack of responsiveness from the property manager. When there was an issue there was no response or support.

Decent budget room for a solo traveller

LOCATION: It is found in the Prati area on the 5th floor of a city block to the north-west of central Rome. It's a 15 minute walk to the Vatican and 25 or so to the Centro Storico (Historic Centre). So it's not a terrible location but not a great one either. However, the Ottaviano Metro station is only a 5-10 minute walk away.
ROOM: This single room was fairly basic with a small single bed, desk, wardrobe and bedside table, but it also had a TV, a much-needed air conditioning system and free wifi. It was clean, neatly decorated and well kept. The private bathroom was also very well kept and very clean, though for this room the bathroom was external i.e. not en suite, which was a little inconvenient (I don't believe this to be the case for the double rooms).
SERVICE: Daniele, the owner, was very helpful - especially on arrival as it was my first time in Rome. The room was cleaned every day. Breakfast was available as a selection of Italian biscuits, jams, golden rusk breads, bread, juices and coffee pods for the coffee machine. You can use the communal kitchen whenever you like, which is good.
PRICE: The price I paid for my single room was good, but I think it was the upper end of the budget range.
OVERALL: Not a bad little hotel for a solo traveller just looking for a decent B&B.
