Huge mistake.

Certainly Scilla is the very worst place in Italy. Dirty and unsafe for women and children. A city of pickpockets, scams and crime. AVOID and share with fellow travelers because you NEVER want to get stuck here like we did. Our worst experience in Italy in 20 years!

Le Frightening Grotte

Absolutely disgusting environment. The location, the room, the surroundings and the owner made this the worst place we have ever been in 29 years of travel! . We booked a room in Scilla and when we arrived there were employees buzzing around but NO GUESTS anywhere. This should have been a red flag but in Italy we have never experienced bad hospitality. We never expected he was part of an organization that scams tourists. The owner had us assigned to a "suite" offsite. There was no transportation to this property so we had to walk alone, a great distance, uphill to the next town Chianalea with our luggage which was ruined. When we got there it was a 3rd floor tiny studio with no amenities or working phone. Thank god we didn't let him hold our passports. We had prepaid but because of how unsafe it was we decided to eat the cost and flee this horrific place. We debated a different hotel but the beach was covered in trash, broken glass and cigarettes. Poor Scilla.

You book one thing and you find something completely different!!!

I booked at Le Petite Caves and we found ourselves at La Locandoera... we had booked rooms with a small balcony overlooking the sea but instead I found myself in another structure with a church view... the owner was non-existent and grumpy... the light on the stairs it wasn't there, at night you had to turn on the phone's flashlight... Zero breakfast, on the first day we didn't even find a coffee pod, I had to ask for it for the next day and when I booked I paid for breakfast, empty toilet, paid water dispenser and hot water came out with 40 degrees outside, in the bathroom 2 very small bottles of shower foam which were not enough to wash your hands... it is the fourth time I go to Chianalea and I have always found excellent facilities, this is Zero I do not recommend it to anyone!

Dangerous and dirty

Facility is run down and hazardous. Location is remote and unsafe to walk in the area. Beaches are rocky, dirty and chaotic. Owner is unprofessional, aggressive and belligerent by breakfast. No wifi, no breakfast, no transportation available.
