Great 1st visit to Turin

We had one of the loft rooms - very comfortable bed and lovely to have the space of a small living area with a great view across the rooftops - particularly as we had a spectacular thunderstorm on the 2nd evening. We consequently had an issue with a leaking roof (it was torrential rain) but the hosts responded straight away and sorted everything out very efficiently and appropriately - breakfast was served n the downstairs cafe and it may be cheaper/better just to source your own. Lovely place to spend a few days - excellent location.

A scandal - left with door closed upon arrival with 3 young children

We are a family of 5 with 3 young children and had booked 2 rooms at Due Matote for last weekend. We unfortunately arrived later than planned on Friday night, at 10pm instead of 8pm. We called a bit before our arrival and the lady in charge of the B&B literally screamed over the phone saying she had been waiting for us and was not living on site. I asked her why she had not called but replied she had only sent an email... She nevertheless mentioned she would wait for us until our arrival at 10.30. When we arrived at 10.30pm, the door of the B&B was locked and the phone of the lady on answering machine. She knew we had 3 young children... I have honestly never experienced such a rude and disrespectful behavior from anyone in the tourist industry, and we have traveled extensively.
This lady is obviously not very clever as giving a call would have solved everything... and clearly, the Due Matote does not deserve to welcome any clients with such a scandalous attitude...
Be aware, these people are not professionals.

Cara Signora,
forse l'obiettività' non fa parte del suo back ground educativo, ma del mio si. Cosi' come l'educazione, di cui evidentemente Lei non è provvista.
Ci avete mandato venti giorni fa una mail in cui dicevate di arrivare intorno alle 8. Il giorno prima del vostro arrivo vi abbiamo chiamato due volte e scritto una mail di conferma per sapere se qualcosa era cambiato ma non avete risposto ne' ci avete richiamati. . Faccio presente che i nostri check.in chiudono alle 19.30 non essendo noi il Four Season ma un semplice B&b che certo non può' permettersi di pagare una Receptionist 24h su 24. Alle 20.30 del giorno del vostro arrivo, la signorina comincia a chiamarvi ma il vostro cellulare risulta spento. Vi scrive due mail a mezz'ora di distanza per sapere se è successo qualcosa. Nulla. Da parte vostra non un cenno. E si fanno le 9.30. Alle 10. 15 Richiamiamo e ancora nulla. Ci richiamate verso le 11.00 dicendo arrabbiati che non sapevate nulla dei limiti di orario; ma dove vivete mi chiedo io, e con tre bambini , tu mamma non ti accerti che sia possibile arrivare quando vuoi ??? Mah..
Ci dite che state parcheggiando. ok perfetto. Aspetta , aspetta...niente. A quel punto autorizzo la Receptionist ad andarsene . Stava aspettandovi da da quasi 4 ore. Ora io mi chiedo : ma tutti i clienti che educatamente e intelligentemente chiamano per accertarsi degli orari d'arrivo e ancor piu' educatamente si scusano se tardano ( e si parla di al massimo mezz'ora ) sono degli alieni ? Sono degli sciocchi ? Perché vede Signora, il 99,9% lo fa. Il fatto che rifossero tre bimbi , mi spiace ,molto , ma non è problema mio se hanno una madre non attenta. Quando viaggio con i miei, sono sempre ben accorta nell'accertarmi che tutto sia a posto.
Noi abbiamo perso 600 euro, voi un po' di tempo per cercare un altro hotel. Le posso assicurare che ci ho rimesso io.

Quirky b&b in the heart of Turin

We found this little b&b on Trip Advisor and booked it on the strength of the reviews and were not disappointed. It is in a perfect location on Via Garibaldi, which is a busy, mainly pedestrianised street full of shops and cafes within walking distance of many of the major tourist attractions that Turin has to offer. It is a little difficult to find being tucked away on the top two floors of an apartment building (you need to have the full address and a map if you are walking to it). We arrived at Turin airport and caught the Sadem bus (12 euros return) to the city centre, got off at Stazione di Porta Susa and had a 15 minute walk. We were a little bit taken aback on arrival when we discovered it was a double bed (having booked a twin through booking.com) but it was very wide and my friend and I managed to sleep ok. We thought the room was charming with lovely little touches such as a full complement of toiletries in the bathroom, a Nespresso machine, a kettle and a fridge with water, yoghurts, fruit juices, jams and butter refilled every day. Also supplied for breakfast were croissants, toast and various teas.
We were given a map on arrival with tips for sightseeing and eating out and were shown the five keys that were needed to get in and out of our room/building. We found these challenging but eventually got used to the colour coded system! We found the room a little noisy with rowdy revellers in the street below but it didn't spoil our enjoyment of this beautiful city.

Very special - excellent location

We had a bit of a hard time finding our way, partly our own fault I guess as we have no GPS and driving in Turin can be a bit of a challenge - lot's of one-way streets! We had a room at the top and were very impressed with the decoration and how they have managed to turn this space in to a very nice room. For a longer stay or if you are very tall, it can be a bit difficult but for a few days visiting Turin perfect. Lot's of nice details and the balcony is not just a balcony, more like a little garden - very nicely done with lots of plants and a view over the rooftop. It's worth while to follow the advice regarding which restaurants to go to - had a very good meal at Tre Galline.
