A great place to tour Venice
We were blessed the last of September to stay four nights at Ca'Moroni B and B in Venice run by a lovely lady named Rita. It was ideal for touring all of Venice and her breakfasts in a sumptious 13th century breakfast room looked like something out of a Venetian palace. The room we stayed in had a roof top patio and the bathroom we had was as spacious and beautiful as any one would want at home. A most excellent place to stay.

Miserable stay! Certainly not what I anticipated with all of the positive reviews
I booked this hotel purposely for the location and the Air Conditioning. I didn't realize until after I booked the room that this was a B&B. Once we arrived we found the place easily. However it was very hot, we stood in the hot sun, humid sticky weather for over an hour waiting for the Alilaguna bus to take us to Venice, we were crammed in the boat with no breeze or AC, then we dragged suitcases through the streets then upstairs to our room. Needless to say we were hot, tired and cranky. We searched for the AC to turn it up and couldn't find it, there was a fan. We opened the windows and texted the owner about the AC. She told us "the air cond. system has been already closed on September 15th." NOWHERE on the website does it say the AC is turned off at any point in the year. When I explained that it was hot and stuffy in the room (it was in the 80's and was about 75% humidity) I was told too bad - no AC.
Well unfortunately because we had the windows open (we closed the windows when we went to sleep), that night my daughter was eaten alive by mosquitos. The first night she ended up with almost 10 bites. So the next 2 nights, we didn't want to open the windows due to the mosquitos, but the room was so stuffy and hot that we ended up not being able to sleep. My daughter had new bites each morning - so the mosquito was still in our room - she has something like 20 bites - huge welts.
Another issue was the bed - it was awful!!!! I travel a lot - all over the globe - so I know some beds can be harder than we Americans are used to, but this one made it impossible to get comfortable and we both woke up with pain in our backs, shoulders and hips.
There is only someone on site from 8ish to 2, so there is no way to get information about how to get somewhere or where to eat etc. throughout the day, and when we left in the morning to get the Alilaguna back to the hotel - there was no one to get directions from.
The ‘breakfast’ is coffee, a gross Croissant and a pre-packed dry toast, with Jelly – that’s all you get.
About the only positive I can say about our stay is that the staff was friendly, but did had limited english and the location was lovely.

Charming, but basic...
Close to Sant Angelo Vaporetto, have to change at St. Mark's.
Old mansion with some beautiful antique furniture and lighting, but is almost a self-serve/hostel-type B&B, as far as services go. A lady is there to greet you, but she lives downstairs and goes home in the evenings. Gives you a key to return at night. Is very careful with lighting, etc. (Didn't turn on lights in foyer when we arrived, at 7:00 p.m. Seemed dark in there) When I turned on the large chandelier, she turned it off and said "it is very old and delicate". Also a bit frugal with towels.
Feels more like you are staying in someone's private home as their guest. Less expensive than some others similar style, but next time I would pay the extra for the added convenience/service.

Old world splendor
Ca' Moroni is a typical old Venetian palace. It is not high class (you have to share a bathroom) but it is centrally located between St. Marks and the Rialto. We booked it on the internet and were given directions on how to get there that were lnot too easy to follow but there are no directions that are easy to follow in Venice. Let me tell you how we got there. We took the Vaporetto from the train station to San Angelo and asked for help getting to the square. We went over a canal on a bridge that ended at our doorway. Upon entering the palace we passed a well maintained courtyard. climbed a set of stairs to the entrance of the hotel. Our room had two large old armoirs two full length windows that open onto a balcony overlooking another courtyard. It is a huge room with a huge modern bathroom right across the hall that we shared with another couple who were seldom there. The breakfast was served in a beautiful old dining room with a huge fireplace. It was a great stay for less than $100.

Décevant / disappointing
Nous sommes restés 2 nuits dans ce B&B. Le prix était vraiment très élevé pour la qualité des locaux/services, notamment avec une salle de bain très décevante et une douche sans pression d’eau. De plus, l’accueil était assez peu sympathique, n’attendez pas de l’aide de la part du personnel. Nous avons finalement changé en trouvant très facilement un autre B&B 2min à pieds avec une qualité de service bien meilleure.
We stayed 2 nights at this place. The price for the room was very expensive for the service: for instance the bathroom was disappointing with a the shower head without pressurized water. On the top of that, the welcome could have been more friendly and we could not expect any help from the workers in the B&B. We finally find pretty easily another B&B at 2min by feet, for half price with much better service.
