Hotel is beautiful and the room was very clean, the fridge was always stocked and beds were made and the trash was taken out each day. Breakfast was delicious and staff were friendly.

Horrific! Smelly, hot, dark, rude front desk, worst hotel ever.

Alba Banja at the front desk is extraordinarily rude and threatened to call the police on my family as we were checking in because we were a family of five instead of the four people she had expected (the booking would not let us rent for five, and before I could explain, she was yelling). I offered to get a second room, and she said "it’s not about the second room!" She then charged us an extra 30 euro per night for the additional person, which I paid. I sense she just made up that number on the spot. When we got to the room, we had to carry our luggage up two flights of stairs, as it appears there is no elevator, and the staircase area stank like mold and chemicals. The room was dark and hot, and the king bed was two twins pushed together, with no real blankets, just a sheet and a thin red cover, not really even a comforter, that looks like it has never been washed. There were matching pillows with a tassel border that surely had never been washed. Vile. The electrical outlets by the bed are entirely blocked by the old ornate end tables which are screwed into the wall, very hard to plug anything in. One outlet popped loudly when I plugged in a charger, and it destroyed my electrical converter. The bathroom had mold and mildew everywhere. We slept with the windows open the first night because the AC did not work as promised, and my whole family woke up with 60+ mosquito bites each. Cobwebs everywhere in the ceiling. The breakfast room is in a serial-killer-style basement area, it also stank to high heaven and the food looked old and disgusting, we did not eat there. I had a "cappuccino" which was actually just a nescafe from a machine. I get that it’s an old building but I would assume even in the 1600s they could have cleaned up the cobwebs before a guest arrived. My family decided it was the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. I hope it closes down.

Make sure to see photos of your room prior to fonal booking

We were looking for a room that would sleep three adults, so we booked a **Classic Triple Room**. The example photos of the two available room layouts looked good, so we made the reservation.
When we arrived, we were led upstairs to our room. The bellhop dropped off our luggage, inserted the credit card-style key into the power slot just inside the door, and promptly left.
The room layout was unusual. Immediately inside was a full bathroom on the left and a wardrobe/armoire opposite. Beyond that were two twin beds that could be used as either seating or sleeping. The main bed, however, was located in a loft accessed by a set of stairs. While that might seem charming, the loft layout was not disclosed when booking. My spouse had recently undergone back surgery, making the stairs a concern. To make matters worse, I hit my head on the low ceiling molding in the loft. The clearance was about 5'10" (1.77 m), while I am 6'2" (1.88 m). There is no place to store clothing on the upper level.
We visited in June, and although the air conditioner was set to 19°C (66°F), the room never cooled below about 77°F (25°C). By 1:00 a.m., it was still around 75°F (24°C), with the loft trapping most of the heat. I couldn't say exactly how warm it became upstairs, but waking up covered in sweat is not ideal.
After everyone had showered and changed, I went downstairs to ask about changing rooms. Unfortunately, the room that had previously been offered as an upgrade had already been taken. Thankfully, we were moved the following morning.
The second room was much more practical, with everything on one level. It had one king bed and one twin bed at the foot of it. The bathroom featured a shower in a bathtub that required a careful step over the side because the tub sat about 2½ feet above the bathroom floor. The shower drained slowly, leaving you standing in several inches of water by the end of your shower. Water pressure was good, but the shower hose leaked at the connection, dribbling water onto the floor. I ended up stuffing a washcloth along the edge of the tub to keep the floor dry. It also had one of those shower curtains that constantly clings to you.
This is a lovely hotel that feels like it was last updated sometime in the 1960s. It doesn't necessarily need a complete renovation as much as it needs consistent maintenance. It's showing its age, and both the hallways and rooms had a noticeable chemical cleaning odor.
Housekeeping made the beds and replaced the towels every day, which was appreciated. A complimentary breakfast is provided each morning. The Wi-Fi, however, was spotty at best.
One thing worth noting is that guests are required to leave their room key at the front desk whenever they leave the hotel. The key also powers the room through the card slot inside the door. Removing it cuts power to everything except the HVAC system, so nothing can be charged while you're away. I'm not sure whether this is standard practice in Venice, but it's something future guests should be aware of.

Ok stay - location is great for easy walking to a lot of sights, restaurants and shopping. However, private water taxis will not come to the hotel dock even though they say they will when you book (very irritating that they just aren’t upfront about this). Hotel desk clerk was extremely helpful directing us how where to walk (short distance) to find our taxi for airport transfer. Quadruple room was large and clean; tile floors; older bedspreads (one had cigarette burn in it). Bathroom tiny (typical European). Breakfast area was sufficiently large and had reasonable options though nothing “wowed”. Lots of stairs- looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed in a month and storing supplies under the stairwells gave an unsightly appearance. Overall would recommend to people who value a clean, functional stay but not to others who value appearance, ammenities or more modern facility.

Extremely expensive for the condition of the room. Really outdated bathroom. Good breakfast.
