A small corner out of time: history, flavors, and authentic hospitality
Last weekend, together with three friends, I stayed at La Confrérie du Moyen Âge in Grand Villa, a sort of medieval inn where every detail is perfectly on theme: from the rooms to the furnishings, right down to the hosts' clothing.
We were welcomed into this unusual and magical atmosphere by Marco, Monica, and their daughter Giada, who made our stay truly special. Marco is an attentive and friendly host, Monica an extraordinary cook, and Giada a delightful storyteller: she told us the history of the place, curious anecdotes, and lots of information about the surrounding area, demonstrating truly engaging knowledge and passion.
The food deserves a special mention: abundant and delicious at both dinner and breakfast. The latter, in particular, was simply memorable. Local cold cuts and cheeses, jams prepared by Marco, and Monica's tarts in many different flavors: each one better than the last, making it impossible to rank them.
It is the ideal place for those who truly wish to disconnect from the routine and rediscover the pleasure of slowing down. Many mobile operators do not guarantee good coverage at that altitude, but, all things considered, this contributes to the charm of the experience. And for those who really cannot give up a connection, the property does have Wi-Fi available.
The inn can accommodate a maximum of twelve people, thus maintaining an intimate and family-like atmosphere. Meals are shared around a single table, offering a wonderful opportunity to meet other guests, exchange experiences, and fully live the spirit of conviviality that characterizes the place.
An experience that I recommend without hesitation to anyone looking for a weekend different from the usual, dedicated to history, discovery, and authenticity. A small corner out of time that truly leaves a mark.

A dive into the Middle Ages in the heart of the Aosta Valley
We were really happy to stay at this wonderful family-run mountain hotel, where time seems to have stood still. It is not just accommodation, but a real experience: an immersion in the medieval atmosphere, recreated with a care and passion really rare.
The hotel is run by an extraordinary family: her father, an antique dealer, has collected and selected unique and fascinating pieces; her daughter Giada, a restorer, has been able to revive vintage objects with competence and delicacy; her mother, finally, is an exceptional cook who has pampered us with genuine and, especially for us, vegetarian dishes!
One of the most peculiar experiences was the medieval dinner: dressed in period clothes, we had dinner in a charming room, surrounded by antiques, some decidedly curious — like a mummified caiman hanging from the ceiling testimony to the eclectic (and a little disturbing!) tastes of the Middle Ages.
The rooms are one more beautiful than the other, each with a story. Ours was reached through a real hatch on the ground floor, and paid tribute to a woman expert in medicine and herbal medicine, accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake. On the wall, an ancient formula taken from a secret Aosta Valley reminded us how rich this land is in mystery and tradition.
This hotel is the perfect combination of History, Welcoming and Authenticity. If you are looking for an experience out of the ordinary, surrounded by nature and Aosta Valley culture, you can not miss it.

The discovery of the Middle Ages
As soon as the door of the confrerie opened they were literally speechless, a jump into the Middle Ages, environments with furniture, and authentic decor. Dinner and breakfast are something stratospheric. Complete all the conviviality and availability and preparation of the owners monica and marco.

Not to be missed
Calling it a hotel is simplistic. Each room is unique and different from the others, each corner is carefully designed to catapult you into another era. And the feeling comes right away, just before you open the front door. If there is a chance, I also Recommendation dinner... medieval clothes for everyone, candles as a light source and great food.
Family-run property that really makes you feel at home, all very helpful and welcoming... the Owner then exudes a passion that conquers you.
