Nice rooms and great staff!

Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by hotel clerk Yousef. The room was nice and comfortable - Yousef was great, helping us with our concerns. Nice rooms and great staff! The only issue was the hotel was difficult to find and the front entrance lacks "curb appeal". However, once you make it to the front lobby everything was good!

Not like in the picture.

It wasn't very clean, and not the most private.

To avoid at all costs / shockingly bad, they should be shut down

Don't believe any of the nice photos they use to convince you this is a nice hotel. This establishment is dirty and unfriendly. It is partially demolished and basically a work site. Rooms are dirty (see photos), with stains on the bedsheets, cigarettes burns all over the walls, no towels, no toilet paper, broken lamps, broken and dangerous electric switches. Just don't go. They don't care and they are there to rip you off. There is no reason to stay here at all- look at the other reviews. At the same price point there are nicer, more honest hotels more centrally located. It's hard to believe that this sort of hotel is allowed to stay open. Also, there is party noise all night long and it is impossible to sleep at any time.

Horror show

We booked this through Booking.com and this verified review appears there as well, but only with four photos.
On the plus side, there is easy parking at the property. It is convenient for the Talpiyot Industrial Area and reasonably close to Arnona.
On the minus side, there were so many problems with this hotel I don’t know where to start.
1. The rooms were dirty. Not just a little dirty but really filthy dirty. So dirty that we did not feel comfortable using the showers. The sinks look like they had not been wiped for weeks.
2. Also, in addition to being dirty the rooms and building were in poor repair. There were bare electrical wires sticking out of the walls in multiple places and many of the walls were stained or grimy, looking like they had not been painted for many years.
3. There was no one on duty in Reception most of the time – just a piece of paper with some mobile numbers on it.
4. Apart from the security aspect of that (literally anyone could have walked in and had access to all parts of the hotel), when we returned to the hotel to sleep there was no power supply in our part of the hotel and due to the lack of light we had to find our way around by torch (from our phones), without any assistance or explanation from anyone at the hotel. There was also no heating in the rooms because of the lack of power and it was very cold, so we ended up having to sleep in our clothes. The power only came back on in the morning at around 6:30 am. My wife had previously been a little unwell before she arrived at the hotel but she then spent the night in the freezing cold hotel room sleeping in all her clothes. According to the emergency doctor we saw the following day, she then became more unwell. The doctor said that if she’d had a temperature couple of days before which had gone down by the time she arrived at the hotel, she’d previously had a viral infection which she was successfully fighting off, but that the return of the temperature with a bad cough meant that the night in the freezing room had left her susceptible. She therefore now had a bronchial bacterial infection, for which he prescribed a course of antibiotics.
5. We woke up in the morning at around 6:30 am anyway, because there were no curtains or other means of shutting out the light, just very flimsy blinds that were almost completely transparent and did not shut out any light. The room was light during the night as well (because there was electric light outside the room) but of course in the morning when the sun came up early it was very bright indeed.
6. The outside of the hotel is like a building site, in that there is heavy building work going on to the front of the building.
7. The “city view” from the bedroom window is of the builders’ merchant next door (storing building supplies such as metal and wood for the building trade).
8. The breakfast that was advertised as available was not available (apparently “because it was Saturday”).
9. I don’t understand how they can call it a “suites hotel” if most of the rooms are not suites.
10. When we arrived, the hotel said that they were unaware that we were going to have two people in one room and three in the other. I later checked what we said at the time of the booking and the booking confirmation states “Can we please have one room with a double bed (husband and wife). And the second room with two single beds, plus ideally with a mattress for a third guest (grandmother, daughter and granddaughter)“. So if they had read the booking confirmation they would have been less surprised.
11. They asked for over US$150 to allow the third person/bed in one of the rooms and instead of paying that much we decided to take a third room. Another reason why we did that was that one of our group was elderly and there was a step-up running across the full width of the room which was a trip hazard for her, especially if she had to get up in the dark (I believe that a step like that would be unlawful in my country, but I don’t know the rules in Israel). The hotel said that they would charge the third room at the same price as the others, but they charged more.
12. When we checked out I asked to speak with a manager, but the manager on duty said that he needed to speak with the “senior manager”, who was not in the hotel and who apparently said to the duty manager that he was eating and could not speak.
13. One reason for wanting to speak with a manager was to discuss the problems during we encountered during our stay before paying, because they clearly justified an adjustment. However the duty manager said that the hotel had in fact already taken payment before we checked out.
14. I emailed the hotel in the evening on the same day as we checked out (20 April) raising the above. As of today (19 May) I have had no reply – not even an acknowledgement of receipt. I then emailed Booking.com, who responded immediately and who have been diligent and fair in their dealings with me, but who (as of the last time I heard from them) said that they too had not heard back from the hotel.
Based on my many prior dealings with Booking.com (and in particular the rare occasions on which I’ve had problems in relation to bookings made through them) I have 100% confidence in their wish to be fair with me and to find out why the hotel let us down so badly, but assuming they have also been ignored by the hotel there is not much more they can do at this stage in terms of information.
We stay at more than 10 hotels per year and many of these are booked through Booking.com. We very rarely if ever need to make a complaint or leave a poor review (our Booking.com and other reviews will confirm that), but here we have suffered by far the worst experience we have had in any hotel in over 30 years. The photos we have posted with the review back up everything that can be demonstrated in a picture.
