Wonderful Goblin Hill
Our 3-week stay at Goblin Hill Villas was pure vibes from start to finish.
It’s one of those places that instantly slows you down without even trying. Mornings started with that unreal ocean view, the sound of nature all around, and that calm Caribbean breeze you wish you could bottle up and take home. After a few days, it didn’t even feel like a holiday anymore it just felt like life, but better.
The villa had everything we needed clean, spacious, and comfortable but honestly, most of our time was spent just soaking in the surroundings. The greenery, the views, the peace… it’s a different kind of energy up there.
The staff were amazing too super welcoming, easygoing, and genuinely kind. Nothing ever felt forced, just good people making sure you’re good.
Location-wise, it’s perfectly placed. We spent time at Frenchman’s Cove and Winnifred Beach both beautiful, but Frenchman’s Cove? Yeah… that one’s special. Proper postcard setting. We also went rafting on the Rio Grande, which was one of the most peaceful, laid-back experiences of the whole trip.
By the end of it, Goblin Hill felt like home. The kind of place you don’t just visit—you feel it. Leaving after three weeks didn’t feel right at all.
We’ll definitely be back… no question.

Beautiful peaceful surrounding in an ideal location to view the beaches close by. Frenchman Cove being my favourite. Goblin Hill is private and serene for a couple or family reunion. Food from their restaurant is delicious,especially the pumpkin soup. It was easy to get around via the local taxis. All the staff were very kind and helpful. The stairs to the beach is very tricky to use so use the main road.

The Pinnacle of beauty and Graciousness that have made Jamaica Famous
Whether you have been to Jamaica before, or are visiting it for the first time, you owe yourself the experience of staying at Goblin Hill Villas in Port Antonio. We have been coming to Jamaica since 1984: a love affair that began in Negril and has lured us all over the island. Our favorite spot is ~hands down~ Port Antonio. The magnificent coves and beaches, the towering rainforest chattering with endemic birds, the waterfalls to frolic in and rivers to raft, the Castle!, the historic architecture downtown, the legendary people who live or have lived here such as most of the current large resort owners, government officials, recording stars, and late luminaries like Erroll Flynn and the Aga Khan and Princess Nina...all make it an enchanting historic spot.
We have stayed at several properties in "Porty": guest houses, a private villa, a hotel, and finally found the best place to stay on the island: Goblin Hill Villas. Designed by a renowned architect and managed lovingly by his family, it exudes a gracious welcome "Old Jamaica" style. The villas command a breathtaking view of San San Beach and are a walk away from the best beaches in the world Frenchman's Cove and the Blue Lagoon, plus Geejam Resort/Bushbar Restaurant and recording studio, Vanessa's Restaurant, and Diplo's magnificent Pompey (sic) Villa and Recording studio. The style, orientation for breeze and view, the furnishings and art are all just what you would want in your own villa: both Jamaican and modern art, furniture of Mahogany, rotan, wicker, with modern glass tables, and lots of bright white upholstery. The bathroom is modern and well-equipped with outlets and waterfall shower. The porches offer table and chairs for eating/cards/work! and also comfortable lounging chairs and ottomans. The large living area holds a comfy three-seat couch, two chairs, coffee table and TV/Screen. The petite kitchen has all you would need to cook up your own dinner. If you want a total vacation, you can hire a chef to prepare your meals there or be delivered from the charming on-site restaurant surrounded by hummingbird feeders that are actively used!
For recreation on the property, there are two night-lit tennis courts, a palm-surrounded swimming pool, and a nature walk.
But whether you are active or not, the property and rooms invite precious moments surrounded by the pinnacle of beauty and graciousness that have made Jamaica famous.

MM, what a pleasure to host you yet again, on your respite from particularly rough Northern freeze this year. You should probably be given a Jamaican passport by now, for your love of the country and our special part of it here in Portland, and how you are embraced by everyone you meet here. You and your friends and hubby just fit in so easily here at Goblin Hill and the staff is charmed by you. I'm happy you were here for our Saturday night drinks conclaves where you got to meet folks from San San, who, no surprise, seemed fast friends with you right away.
You have described us so well, I think. We're not a luxury property but we aim to have the loveliest setting, the nicest staff, great hearty fare, and amazing and empty nearby beaches and waterfalls and hiking.

Unfair, irrational and stopped communicating
Be VERY CAREFUL when booking a reservation at Goblin Hill Suites! Prior to Hurricane Melissa, I made a reservation and paid a $416 deposit. After the storm and I called their land line and WhatsApp phone several times to see what condition the hotel was in, no answer or return call at any point. I reached out several times via email and every time they responded I was told they still did not have power. They never took the initiative to contact me, only responses to my emails. 2 weeks prior to my reservation I decided to cancel my trip to Jamaica due to the devastation from the storm as well as the fact the they obviously CAN NOT accommodate me with NO POWER and they may possibly of not even had water, if they have water it’s obviously cold because there’s no power to use the water heater. They told me that although they still don’t have power, the reservation is NON-REFUNDABLE and they would need to reach out to the managing director to see they can make an exception to give me a refund. My original reservation date has now passed and ALL NOW no one from Goblin Hill Suites as reached out to me or responded to my follow up email with any type of resolution although they still do not have power…. It’s been 2 weeks, no contact from Front Desk. How am I suppose to stay at a hotel with NO POWER and possibly no water?? I do not recommend any one to book here unless you want to be ignored or treated unfairly. As a Jamaican, I’m embarrassed and disheartened to know that this is how they treat tourist and that there’s no rationale within their policy!

“I called the landline and WhatsApp several times and no one answered.”
-Jamaica had just been hit by a Category 5 hurricane, which caused severe damage to
infrastructure, including electricity, telephone and cellular connections. The phones were down
islandwide. Naturally, if you called during this period, the calls would go unanswered, not due to
neglect, but due to physical outages beyond our control.
“They only responded to my emails, never took the initiative to contact me.”
We were unable to respond to your phone calls,but your emails were responded to whenever
we had periods of service , and we were fully transparent about the situation on property. Given
the loss of power and communication services across the parish, it was not possible for us to
initiate outgoing contact consistently. Despite this, you did receive every update you asked for,
and we even offered to keep you informed as conditions changed.
“They still didn’t have power, so clearly they could not accommodate me.”
-We repeatedly informed you of the situation and explained that the island was undergoing
phased restoration. We cannot take responsibility for services outside of our control. You were
reminded of the option to rebook at a later date, which we provide in the event of a cancellation.
You may transfer your reservation to family members or friends. It is not accurate to say we
misled you about our status or ability to host.
“The reservation is non-refundable, and no one got back to me with a resolution.”
- Our non-refundable policy is clearly stated on the website and also in the booking
confirmation. And also we strongly advise our guests on the website and in the booking
confirmation to sign up travel insurance ,for unforeseen events. The claim that “no one
got back to you” is incorrect, as we responded to your emails and reminded you of our
policy,
“They ignored me and treated me unfairly.”
We understand your disappointment, but this statement is untrue. We maintained
communication throughout a period of severe national disruption. Our staff continued to respond
despite lacking power, internet instability, and non-functioning phone lines. Every effort was
made to assist you under extraordinary circumstances.
We understand the frustration that can accompany travel disruptions during a natural disaster,
but it is important that reviews reflect the facts.
We remain committed to serving all guests fairly, respectfully, and transparently, even under the
most challenging circumstances..
