It was an inn where you could feel the care.

It has been several years since I heard about the delicious food and decided to go. I finally got my wish and stayed there.
You can see buildings, interiors, ornaments and other pretty interesting things here and there. And the younger ones who are more friendly when they show us around at check-in, they feel a different kind of warmth from the hotel.
I didn't expect much of a bath, but it's a good hot spring, and it's interesting to have a deep tub that you can hang onto a string.
And dinner was French and delicious with lots of local stuff. Even the dessert was elaborate and I was satisfied.
But for my part, I prefer breakfast. The shijimi soup from Abashiri was especially delicious.
It was a very nice inn with a different feeling of relief from other hotels.

Best Food of Trip

The name should give it away, a French auberge fused with a traditional Japanese ryokan that provides the warm hospitality of the north. Located part way up a hillside behind Abashiri with nice view over a farm and lake. Steep uphill walk to museums for sea ice and northern peoples’ museums, downhill to the prison museum (aka the Alcatraz of Japan). The inn is eclectically decorated with art and historic international cultural references. It has multiple public onsen baths. The food is fantastic! Multi course French style dinners all sourced from local ingredients, served while seated in a room with a view. Breakfasts was Japanese style, delicious. Our room (oichimonji) was spacious western style and included wet room with big tub and view.

Beautiful hotel in stunning location

Top quality food here in a very lovely building, surrounded by beautiful landscape. Beautiful place to get away from it all for a few days. Staff are excellent and service is of a high standard. Slightly awkward to get to from the railway station. It’s a short taxi ride or a 40 minute walk with a very steep uphill ending in a rather remote environment.

Tranquil place to relax whilst in Abashiri

We were a family of 4 ( 2 adults and 2 teenagers) in a very large spacious room. Breakfast options include 2 Japanese options and a western meal. The Japanese breakfast was very good and the experience of having a meticulous made breakfast was memorable. The onsen options include indoor and outdoors for both genders allowing time to relax on our roadtrip holiday. Lastly there is a garden beside the hotel which the family enjoyed after breakfast and has seasonal flowers along with rabbits for the kids to see.
