Wonderful...was a surprise

HAKONE - I was very pleased with the accommodation and exceeded my expectations. To start the experience ONSEN can not be photographed and the thermal pools are beautiful, well cared for and with excellent structure. Not to be confused with the covered water park, this yes needs a modernization, but for those who have children it is pure fun. Only compliments: excellent quality of sleep, attentive staff and varied food with oriental and western options. Sorry I couldn't buy the bag where we took the towels to the pools: a charm!

I like it.

Friendly simple rooms and practically decorated. Super professional staff. Excellent infrastructure and fantastic buffets at all meals. Small but nice onsen baths.

Good, big and crowded.

OK, this hotel gets mixed reviews. Yes, it is big; many families with children, quite some foreigners, etc., etc. But our room was very good and comfortable. Albeit at the end of a very long corridor :) Dinner and breakfast are in shifts, our first in Japan. Never mind. The dinner hall is vast and very crowded. Apart from the meagre sushi, we found the buffet food very good. The breaded shrimps are yummy. All drinks come from dispensers, even beer! We did not go to the onsen, as the Yunessun bath facility is across the street and free for hotel guests. The facility caters to the "never naked" crowd as well as real onsen lovers. That's what we are, and the separate onsen facility is fine, with both indoor and outdoor baths. Our first onsen experience in Japan, and we loved it. Another perk of the hotel is the free shuttle to Gora. That is where the cable car and ropeway to Okuwadani volcanic area and Lake Ashi start. A super trip when the weather is good. Pay 700 Yen more on the ship for the VIP section. And enjoy!

This is a family-friendly hotel with a strong focus on kids, so there are lots of children around, especially at lunch, which can be overwhelming. The hotel is very nice; the pool and gardens are also attractive. However, if you're visiting without small children, it might not be the best choice.

I am allergic to seafood, we talked to the staff and the chef and no one helped me or cared about it. They just didn’t take any responsibility, it was horrible, they should change.
