A gem !
Everything was wonderful!
The spacious room , the beautiful private onsen , access to the Keith Haring Museum , the courteous and professional staff …. We decided to take this trip at the spur of the moment and it was totally worth it !!! We hope to go back again in the fall.

Amazing hotel near Hakushu Distillery, 2hrs from Tokyo!
We stayed at Keyforest for two nights, as part of a trip to the nearby Hakushu distillery. We did not know what to expect, as this was our first foray outside the major cities in Japan. To our very pleasant surprise, this turned out to be one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in (and we've stayed in some really great ones). The rooms were gorgeous and big, with amazing views of the surrounding mountains. We thoroughly enjoyed the on-site whiskey bar. The staff was very accommodating; when we wanted a different restaurant for our second night, they just drove us there and back. And we loved the private hot springs / spa area, maybe three minutes walk from the hotel itself. Then there's the Keith Haring Museum next door - took us about 30 minutes to go through, with a lot of cool artwork. Super great experience, we would love to go back!

Wonderful stay in snow
I stayed one night with a girlfriend on Sunday. The weather cast said it is going to rain but unexpectedly it was snowing so we could enjoy the out side Onsen (hot spring) with snow. This area is popular during summer so you can stay at this hotel at a reasonable price during winter. I recommend you stay there during winter as it is very beautiful to enjoy the Yukimi-buro (outside hot spring with snow) and the South Alps looks very beautiful. You can enjoy skiing and snowboarding too.
The hotel was 5-minute away from Kobuchizawa station by car. (You can get Kobuchizawa from Shinjuku by train named Azusa. It takes 2 hours.) All hotel staff were very kind and warm. They offered us to come to the Outlet Mall to pick us up when we were heading to the hotel and on the evening they dropped and picked us at the restaurant (not their hotel restaurant) for dinner.
The hotel was amazing. It's newly built (1 year ago). They designed everything very modern and cool. The room was very spacious and clean. The room had a floor heating! There were some comfortable nice sofas and a table so we enjoyed a bottle of wine at our room. There was a yoga mat too. The bath tab was very big and cool. They kindly provided a half bottle of champagne as a welcome drink with a warm message.
The spa(outside hot spring) was in a different building so they took us there by their car (2 minutes far). You can use it for 1 and half hour in private. There wes a big hot spring without a roof and there was a small hot spring with a roof. In the spa house, there were shower booths and beach beds. The view of snow from the hot springs was beautiful. I felt like I'm watching a silent film so I could enjoy the hot spring for 1 hour inside.
In the hotel, there was a whisky bar. It was cool. This area is famous for clean and tasty water to make whisky and Japanese Sake. There was a Swedish guy who speaks good Japanese and I assume he definitely speaks good English. Unfortunately they haven't prepared an English website so you have to see the Japanese website.
Only two things I was unhappy were the pillows and the control of the floor heating. The pillows were too thick and hard for my neck. And I couldn't turn off the floor heating so while I was sleeping it was too hot to sleep.

Impressive Boutique Hotel
* Service very personalized - welcomed and taken care by the Hotel Manager.
* Huge room with very modern facilities - like a Park Hyatt in a forest
* Trendy design could be found anywhere in the hotel.
* 90-min private onsen is a once-in-a-lifetime experience - even though I have stayed in almost 100 onsen ryokans before, I would for sure remember this one. Booking a daytime session is recommended in order to enjoy the walk to the onsen and the forest around.
* Delicious full American breakfast.
* Huge room with very modern facilities - like a Park Hyatt in a forest
* Trendy design could be found anywhere in the hotel.

A class of it own!
Stayed here for 4 nights and loved every moment spent in this hotel. Has a private onsen where you can relax for as long as you want. Package comes with breakfast and dinner daily. The room is fantastic, we stayed in the UOSE (Sunlight) room and it was perfect, loved the huge terrace, the bath and toilet areas, the king-size bed... basically everything in the room was perfect. The front-desk staff also provided top-class service especially Christina who speaks perfect English. On the top tier of pricing but worth every ¥! Best to have your own transport, the property provides free parking. The hotel is also approx 20 minutes drive from the Hakushu Whisky Distillery and the Yatsugatake Resort Outlet, an outlet shopping mall.
