Good for this foriegner, 1981 and 1987, Don't mean to mislead, it only offers 2023-2024...

Japanese business partner company booked me and a Japanese engineer into the Danrokan twice in the 1980s. Spent half a 3 week trip and all a 2 week trip there. American breakfast was ok but Japanese Breakfast, in those days, had dried Salmon at least once every 3 days. Dried fish, vegies, rice, and a raw egg to crack into the rice. No matter which you ordered, you could get coffee. Silver pot, white-gloved server. Worked for me! I always gave the other engineer my egg. Heat and Air-conditioning both worked fine.
All the wood in the room, including the doors, was the same, including the box the HVAC was in, table, moldings, desk and night stand. Very comfy, homey. It'll be a sad day when they "update" all that wood.
I used my romanji dictionary and "Japanese for Busy People" grammar book to laboriously construct one-sentence questions but just looked confused when the response was a sentence. Counter person always went to get someone who spoke English. Not like Tokyo. But clean, and we worked too hard to even contemplate the hot spring.

Decent hotel

Got to the hotel very late so couldn't comment too much of its surrounding.
The building and room were quite dated. Room size was large enough to have two luggages opened together which is quite acceptable in Japan.
The bed was fine but unfortunately they don't have any spare pillow.

Good location,but need refurbishment...

I have stayed at this hotel with my friend. Hotel is at good location, 100 meters from old Kofu Castle and main train station.
By my opinion hotel is dated and new some renovation, despite the fact that everything was functional.
