Pleasant stay

We upgraded to a bigger room, and it was really nice because it’s very clean and has big windows.

The booking didn't tell there is no shower room in the room. Breakfast was not made known is only bento. We wanted to upgrade the breakfast but was rejected too. Overall not a good experience for the kids too

My autumn vacation last year 2 days after Typhoon Hagibis. Started at Nagano Hakuba through Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route than to Kurobe Gorge where we stayed one night at Hotel Kurobe. This property is not too old or run down with beautiful scenery around. A wonderful tradition Japanese culture experience with friendly and attentive service staff. Dinner was unexpectedly fabulous with good spread of main course, side dishes and desserts with an attentive hostess gave us battler class of service. Indoor Onsen is big, outdoor one has great view. This hotel provide pickup and transfer service to Unazukionsen station which is so convenient. I really hope to stay in again. Please note that autumn colors will be more vibrant in early November.

Amazing experience! Has everything!

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night after going on the Kurobe Gorge railway (which is a 10-15min walk, 2min taxi journey from the hotel).
The hotel is lovely. My room was massive and could sleep about 5 people comfortably. The view from my room was of the mountains and every so often the railway train would go by which was wonderful to see.
They provide a yukata for you to wear during your stay which was lovely. The room has everything you need including a safe, a fridge, hot water for green tea, a bathroom, even a TV (which I didn't use).
The dinner experience was amazing, I had a 12 course meal which was exceptional. Please note that not many people speak. English here so you'll need to know a few words to get by but don't let that put you off!
The Onsen in this place was AMAZING!! I went at night about 9pm, and it's open 24hrs! There's a large bath inside but the best place is the outside one, don't worry no one can see you! At night you can see all the stars it is SENSATIONAL!! Best place so far on my travels!
I had a fantastic night's sleep which was followed by breakfast which was a treat!!!
There is also free WiFi in this place and also if your collecting the stamp prints they have their own one!!
One thing to be wary of, there are wild Japanese macaques around. I walked from the railway station to the hotel in the evening and just before I got to the hotel 2 of them ran after me! It has no bearing on the hotel, but please make sure you get a taxi to this place!! They're wild and not friendly!! Haha
All in all, I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone thinking of going to Kurobe, it was about a 3 hour journey from Tokyo, I used my JR pass to get me to Shin-Kurobe. You then need to get a local train to Unazukionsen which will cost ¥640.
