Lovely!

We stayed for three nights, and it was a brilliant place to see Kyoto from. Great local knowledge and cafe/bar. Very close to walk to temples and nightlife. Would highly recommend hiring the bikes and using these to get around - it’s vey easy and fun. Lovely staff.

Hospitality

The staff here are very kind and helpful. They gave a thorough introduction to the guest house and it's amenities which set the tone for a relaxed stay. When I lost my wallet they helped to get me in contact with the nearest police box to report it missing (I eventually found it!).
I stayed in the shared male dorm. I found my space adequete and my bed comfortable/warm even on a cold rainy night.
The only suggestions I can offer are to have more places downstairs to charge your electroics, and to have larger spaces to store your valuables. My carry on bag couldn't fit in the provided cubby space.

Nicest People - Authentic Japanese Experience

This hostel easily had the nicest staff of any hostel I have stayed at. They are so welcoming and helpful and will answer any question you have. Great location, an easy bike ride to a lot of the main tourist attractions in Kyoto. They keep the bathrooms and the rooms very clean - there is a very nice lady you will see cleaning the hostel every afternoon. I had a very incredible experience here and would recommend to anyone.

A must-stay when in Kyoto

What a great guesthouse! You feel like you are living in historic Kyoto! Everything still intact and a really authentic Japanese experience for living conditions. Really comfortable and warm whilst still having its old charm. A brilliant location also which is very well connected. The staff there are absolutely wonderful and very very helpful with anything you need. There are lots of maps/recommendations/help at the reception desk.

Very hospitable hostel in downtown Kyoto

My sister and I stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed it very much!
- the rooms and bathrooms are clean
- the furnishing is very stylish, "vintage", warm atmosphere
- affordable and tasty breakfasts (toast with butter or jam, orange juice, coffee or tea)
- 10 min walk from the old quarter
- 10 min walk from a super tasty soba restaurant (ask the owner to know the exact address)
