Abstract: Accommodations (resort hotels) in Matsuyama City available with your dog. Located in the coastal area of Matsuyama City, all rooms have ocean views and are very good value for money with easy access to downtown Matsuyama.
Setouchi Resort Hotel is an accommodation (resort hotel) in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. It is located in the northern coastal area of Matsuyama, within walking distance of Koyodai Station on the Yosan Line. By car, it is 10km and 30 minutes north of Matsuyama city center, and 40 minutes from Matsuyama IC on Matsuyama Expressway or Imabari IC on Nishiseto Expressway. To visit by public transportation, there may be a transfer from the hotel to Matsuyama Station or Matsuyama Airport, so please contact us at the time of booking.
There are no detailed conditions for dogs to accompany this facility on the official website. I think it would be good to act on the same level as a typical dog-friendly accommodation, rather than a dog-friendly accommodation. For more information, please call at the time of booking.
You will need to bring some necessary items with you when you bring a dog. Rooms are equipped with cages, toilet sheets, plates for meals, wet wipes, etc. Cages are available in large, medium and small sizes, so please let us know if you need them when you make your reservation.
There are no facilities specifically for dogs. As for walking the dog, according to the blog on the official website, there is a space (about 200m) where you can walk on the sea side in front of the building, so I think you should use that.
As for the price of bringing a dog, up to one dog (less than 10kg) is included in the pet accommodation plan. If you weigh more than 10kg, there is an additional charge of 1320 yen (tax included) on site. From the second horse onwards, it is negotiable and requires 3,740 yen per head per night (5060 yen tax included for 10kg or more including tax). After checking with the hotel, I stayed with three small dogs.
Reservations can be made through the official website, Rakuten Travel, Jalan, YAHOO! Travel, etc. Basically, the official website often has the best rate, but sometimes the accommodation reservation site can use various coupons and may be cheaper, so please make a reservation after comparing. This time I stayed for one night from Thursday in early November. We have confirmed that there were multiple families with dogs, although they were not fully booked, so it is possible that they will be fully booked during busy periods.
The hotel has 11 rooms on the second floor with pets. There is an elevator to the second floor, so it is easy to get around. All rooms also have ocean views, and the terrace overlooks the Seto Inland Sea. There are two types of rooms where pets are allowed: a pet-friendly standard room (33 square meters, from 19,140 yen per room including tax for two people) and a deluxe family room (45 square meters, from 27,280 yen per room including tax for two people). This time, we have prepared a standard pet-friendly room.
The floor plan consisted of a toilet, sink, bathroom, and then two beds. Facilities include toilet with wash function, free internet (Wi-Fi), TV, kettle and tea making facilities, refrigerator, safe, hair dryer, microwave, scales and air purifier. Amenities include pajamas, bath towel and hand towel, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, body soap and hand soap, T-razor, hairband and hair cap, emulsion and lotion, toothpaste set and hairbrush. Smoking is possible on the terrace.
The room is spacious enough even for a standard, the furniture is clean, and the feeling of cleanliness is good. The bathroom is also very spacious.
Apart from the front desk at the entrance, the hotel also has a poolside restaurant and barrel sauna. The parking lot can accommodate 50 cars, and although it is a bit confusing, there is also an indoor parking lot on the first floor of the building, so you can check in in in case of rain without any problems. There is also a laundromat on site, one of which is equipped with a washer/dryer exclusively for pet supplies, so it is very convenient.
The restaurant serves breakfast (reservation required, ¥1650) in normal operation, and you can bring your dog on the terrace. You may also want to consider taking advantage of the limited-time offer of dinner during busy periods.
As for the hot springs, you can use the hot springs for a day trip at our sister inn, Gongen Onsen, which is a 10-minute drive away. There is also a cafeteria, so you can eat and drink there.
For nearby facilities, the convenience store is a 10-minute walk away (beyond Koyodai Station) from the FamilyMart. You can also eat and drink on the terrace if you are in a cafe called "ALOHA terrace Setouchi" next to the facility.
There are many places around Matsuyama where you can visit and worship with your dog. Here are some of the places Shirokumanga has visited:
・Matsuyama Castle: One of the 12 existing castle towers (Important Cultural Property) located in the center of Matsuyama and the largest castle in Shikoku.
・Dōgo Onsen Main Building: A landmark of Dōgo Onsen and an active public bath.
There are also several restaurants where you can bring your dog, such as "Minato no Shokutaku mesa" and "Matera no Mori", so please use them.

Beautiful views. We had a nice room with a great view of the water. Gorgeous sunset views. Clean and well appointed with everything we needed.

This is not central and is ideal for travelers with a car. The staff was very nice and the rooms were spacious, they are located right on the beach which is nice.

This is a great resort location but a little inconvenient and somewhat isolated. The rooms are spacious and well serviced. There is 24 hour staffing but limited to basic needs. There are no dining options at the location itself and nearby eating options are limited. The hotel offers free entry to a local onsen about 5-10 minute drive from the hotel.
On the plus side, the views from the rooms are spectacular and some rooms offer an outdoor patio. Unfortunately, the hot tub in our patio was sealed during our stay.
Recommended as a stopover while travelling along the coast line by car.
