Very traditional & heart warming

We love this place. An elder hardworking women is running this guesthouse with all her heart.
And the best is the breakfast, don't miss her cooking! The best we ever had in Japan.
Very good location & you'll get trekkinginformation.

Better elsewhere

After a week in Japan, it is the first time we have been unwelcome. The owner is very cold. The accommodation is clean it is the only positive with its location but a lot of air conditioning rules at 28 ° C no less bathroom limited to 3min... the owner's kitchen is right next to the private room with its TV on until 23:00 not counting the comings of other tenants with the doorbell that never stops. Also breakfast is served right next door from 7:00 so expect to have noise and be awake as there is no effort on their part to minimize noise. The room does not lock everything is done to trust... it is not the first time we sleep on futons but it is the first time we find not comfortable. We didn’t feel any effort towards us (French) from the owner compared to the Japanese Welcoming. We do not recommend this place.

Wonderful place in wonderful city

Very calm and very japanese, perfectly clean, very very nice. No idea why the poeple always want to go to these car slammed mega cities of Tokyo or Kyoto ... real Edo experience is here! Only slight drawback are the "snake warning signs" for the hidden pathways in the forest ... you better keep on the main trails there. The 5km trail to the Wakakusayami mountain is wonderful - take a meal at the very nice wooden restaurant at the trailhead start - there is also a very nice coffeeshop with pottery there... .

You will love it.

I loved this guest house. The lady is really warm and has a funny voice. The place is a japanese house but really nice. please make a map to go there because is a little bit tricky from the train station. (but if you have clear the indication, no problem). Try the japanese brakfeast was really interesting.

One of my Best Hostel Experiences

I stayed here with a friend for 2 nights. Both the women's and men's dorms, from our experience, were very clean. Kotoge-san, the owner, is incredibly welcoming and serves a delicious breakfast for only 300 yen everyday. She is very willing to help travelers with trip planning and offer maps from her stock for a myriad sites. The location is also fantastic--right outside the main park. Bikes can be rented, and various complementary snack and homemade beverages are available for free. Guesthouse Tamura is a really wonderful hostel. I can't recommend highly enough!
