Japanese hospitality at it's best

Fantastic and very helpful owner who took care of us in every possible way.
Well located guesthouse with beautiful western style interior, spacious and comfortable rooms with all amenities.
Bathrooms always fresh & clean incl. showers & jacuzzi.
Complimentary breakfast was very much appreciated and so was the drop off at the airport.
If you’re looking for a cozy place to stay at in Yakushima, look no further, La Isla Tasse is the one!
Thank you so much for your kindness & hospitality, we look forward to meeting you again one day.

Absolutely fantastic

I stayed at La Isla Tasse for four days at the end of May and it was first class. The room was great with fresh pyjamas provided each day and really comfy beds and bedding. The whole place is spotlessly clean and the 6 dish Japanese breakfast is amazing value - I'd recommend it. It was the hosts (Miha and her husband) that truly made it special though and they helped me plan my days on the island, ran out to buy me a bus ticket on the first night, drove me to a local restaurant and drove me to the port when I was leaving at 6:30 am - and made me a tea and breakfast to take with me. I consider myself to be fairly well travelled and I'm not sure I've ever experienced this level of hospitality and tremendous value for money too. In terms of Anbo as a location I found it ideal. I took the jetfoil straight into Anbo from Kagoshima and walked to the guest house with my luggage from the port in under 15 minutes. If you arrived at the other port, Miyanoura, it would be half an hour on the bus then a 5 minute walk. To get around the Island, I bought a 3 day bus pass for 3000Y and used the bus stop just round the corner to get everywhere I needed to go. There is also cycle hire available in Anbo and all of the three restaurants I tried were excellent.

Great service

Couldn't have received better attention and help, great location and room. Good area to walk to restaurants etc. Miho was the best host you could ask for. Best bathroom i found in Japan!! Great value for money.

Exceptional Hospitality, Miho is an incredible host!!!!

We stayed for 4 nights here (6th - 10th November). Since day one we arrived, we have been well taken care of Miho and her husband. They picked us up/see us off at the ferry, drop us off at the restaurant for dinner and also pick us up when we finished. They drove us to get the bus pass at the information office. Every morning before we leave for sightseeing, Miho gave us few of sweet potatoes for snack during hiking. Our room has an amazing river and mountain view. The hotel is next to Anbo river, and a perfect location just few minutes walk to bus stop. Anbo would be the centre to stay if you plan to visit major tourist attractions such as Jomon Sugi, Shiratani Unsuikyo, Mt Miyanoura, and waterfalls. They helped us planning for sightseeing for all 3 full days we stay at Yakushima (based on the weather condition). We went hiking(7 hrs hiking) to see Jomon Suki, a 2,700-7,000 years old cedar for the first day, Shiratani Unsuikyo the second day, and Yakusugi Land to hike up to Mt.Tachu on our last day. The travel went completely smooth and it was an unforgettable experiences at Yakushima (credit for all bus time planning, places suggestion goes to them). Japanese breakfast there (by Miho) is delicious (I usually don't eat full meal breakfast but this is an exception). I feel like I am staying at home when staying here at La Isla Tasse. I would highly recommend everyone to stay here and you will not regret it. It's a rare gem in such a small port town of Anbo in Yakushima.

Excellent choice. Miho is the best host ever

We originally ordered two nights, and the next morning we extended our stay for one more night. Miho helped us with anything we needed. Planning our track, phoning to check road and weather conditions, breakfast food preferences (delicious), attraction selection. The double bed room is big enough. Each bed can fit a couple too. There are two shared toilet rooms and two shared bathrooms. This should not deter shy visitors. Room 202 for example is two steps away from them, and the others are at the end of a small hall. The toilets are so high tech (even by Japanese standards) and the bathroom is actually two rooms. Outside the house there is a washing machine and a dryer (noisy so placed two steps outside the front door, you can't hear them in the rooms). Washing is 100yen, drying 100 or 200yen , as standard in Japanese hotels).
Yakoshima is heaven. We did Shiratani (45 minutes track and the next day the 5 hours track) just check the weather forcast before you book the hotel. It can get slippery. Hirauchi Onsen was a liberating experience... A must (come half an hour before the low tide). This place is heaven. Miho - thank you so much for helping us finding these gems!!
