A nice central location to explore Osaka from

My previous visit to Osaka lasted a mere twenty-two hours and involved a capsule hotel, so this time around I decided to stay longer and in more comfort!
The Hotel Vista is located a block or two up from the Dotonburi and directly up from Nippombashi metro station. In short it is somewhat near the thick of the action. My room was a Comfort Double, 1008 on the tenth floor. I’d say it was a standard size for a Japanese city hotel room. The layout is slightly different with a sink as you first enter with separate rooms for a shower and a toilet.
The shower is in a dedicated little wet room. You have the choice of a semi-fixed raindrop head (which seemed to more dribble than flow) and a standard shower head on a hose which was nice and powerful. Interestingly there is a full-length mirror in there too, which of course instantly fogs up when you put the shower on!
There is a safe which is in a decently accessible area, though it’s not big enough to fit an iPad in. There is also a small amount of hanging storage.
I had breakfast included in my room rate, which is taken in the first floor lobby with a good view of the street below if you like to people watch. The selection was pretty good covering both Western and Japanese style food. Like a lot of hotels nowadays there is a small coffee machine which does take a small while to create something. Generally not a big problem unless you get a few people in a queue.
The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke enough English if your Japanese doesn’t go that far. They also helped set up some luggage forwarding, though that was a bit chaotic as in the end I think three different members of staff ended up working on various bits of the process!
A quick tip on how to get here if coming from Shin-Osaka or JR Osaka/Umeda and you don’t want to go outside much if it’s too hot/wet. You can walk between Namba and Nippombashi metro stations by using the underground Namba Walk shopping street, aim for the B exits. There are plenty of shops (including a Studio Ghibli one at time of writing) and restaurants down there for you to also check out.
There is also a 7-Eleven pretty much underneath/next door to the entrance, so very handy if you need to pick up some drinks/snacks/etc on the way past.
Overall I had a pleasant three night stay there and it was a good base to not only discover things locally but also take day trips to Kobe and Himeji. If I come back to Osaka, then I would consider staying here again.

Good base for a city trip!

Hotel Vista enjoys an excellent location, just off the lively Dotonbori district. Doguyasuji is about a 13-minute walk away, a nice shopping street where you can buy ceramics, Japanese knives and chopsticks. Shopping center Namba Parks, with its beautiful rooftop garden, is also within walking distance. In the immediate vicinity are also three subway stations, making it easy to explore Osaka. A 7-Eleven is right next to the hotel.
The rooms are compact, as is often the case in Japan, with a small but well-kept shower. A hairdryer and care products are provided. There is also a refrigerator. A minus are the curtains, which do not completely darken the room. The towels are changed daily as well as emptying the trash can. Room cleaning and bed making/bed linen change every 3 days. Daily they provide a bottle of water in the room
The reception is located on the second floor. Here you can get extra stuff like a comb or toothbrush for free. The breakfast buffet (until 9.30) offers both Japanese and Western dishes, with the nice extra freshly baked waffles. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel.
Check-out is possible until 11:00. Late check-out is possible at an additional cost. We paid 4,000 yen extra for a check-out at 2pm. Noteworthy though: luggage storage after check-out is charged 1,000 yen. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great base for a city trip!

Hotel Vista Osaka Review

Standard room for four people is not bad. Definitely a little bit more space than other hotels I’ve been to in Osaka and Tokyo. Overall, good experience and will stay at this hotel again if I’m in Osaka.

Never again.

I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again for several reasons.
They do not offer daily housekeeping, they don’t change towels daily.
Such a simple thing but they don’t even have tea or coffee in the room. We asked for a sachet of sugar and they said no. They do have it in the hotel but wouldn’t give us 1. I’ve never been to a hotel where a) they don’t offer it or b) where it’s such a big deal to give 1 sachet of sugar.
They do offer washer / dryer facilities. Before you start a wash you have to press a button to clean it and even after doing that the ring was filthy. I don’t think these are cleaned.
They also don’t have bedside tables they have a shelf above the bed and the lampshades have stains on them.
Very very disappointing, I’ve never stayed at a hotel where people don’t want to help. I wish I had known about housekeeping before I booked this place.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Stay at Hotel Vista Namba!

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Vista Namba. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, and special thanks to Kondo for the warm hospitality.
The hotel’s location is perfect, just steps away from all the Dotonbori action, with a 7-Eleven right beside the entrance and plenty of convenience stores such as FamilyMart and Lawson nearby.
Our first room had a small rice leftover on the table, but the staff immediately moved us to a new room with no hassle at all. We really appreciated how efficiently they handled it.
The bed was super comfy, and overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing stay. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Osaka.
