Clean and decent hotel in Sakado

Stayed for a night on a business trip. The hotel is a 10 min walk from the station. The staff is friendly. The rooms are ok, not modern but well maintained and not tiny like many of the business hotels. Standard unit bath with basic amenities. It is as simple, clean hotel but I couldn't find any wifi.network. The breakfast is a Japanese style but they have some bread. It was a comfy hotel for the place.

Inexpensive services and food

This is my first stay at Sakado and 3rd visit to Japan. Japan has always been great business place for me. So every time I visit Japan I try to look for cheap place and guess what this time I found Sakado hotel. It's really close to the Sakado station that saved a lot of time and money.
The Hotel was build way beck in 1991 but it doesn't look much older. I booked a room for 2 days and 3 nights stay. The room was specious and cleaned it was decorated in tradition Japanese way which looked refreshing. The room is service is prompt and most the staffs are friendly. Language barrier can create some problem in communication but it's ok.
Food quality is average but they are very good with traditional dishes. The most important part that I love was Inexpensive services and food.

Clean and Close to the Train Station

This hotel is a 10-minute walk to the Sakado train station, which is very convenient. There is a small grocery store near by and numerous small restaurants (cash only) within a short walking distance. It was built in 1991 and has been well maintained. I have stayed in Japanese business-style hotels before but this hotel also makes an effort to cater to families as well. The front desk has an assortment of household and recreational goods available for guests to check out. My wife and I stayed in a deluxe non-smoking room, which was located on the top (fourth) floor. The hotel does a good job at segregating smoking floors from non-smoking floors.
I will describe the room from an American perspective, as it is very different from a USA chain. There was no dead bolt lock on the entry door, which is typical (Japan has a low crime rate). The room key has a large & bulky metal blank that sets in a receptacle inside the room and cuts off all lighting when removed, so one person could not leave the room while another stays in. Also note that the room key is held by the front desk when you exit the hotel, and presented to you upon returning. The room was small but very clean, with two twin beds low to the floor and a built-in night stand in between. The beds were very firm which was somewhat uncomfortable for my wife. The night stand has the radio built in, as well as three light switches that control the lights in the room. The battery powered digital clock rests on top of the night stand next to the telephone. There is a small pen light clipped to the wall nearby to illuminate your path when rising during the night. Other furnishings consisted of two chairs and a small circular table about two feet in diameter. There was a built-in desk with lower suitcase platform, but no dresser or closet. A string of clothes hangars was attached to the wall for a few shirts and pants. We had to live out of our suitcases during the two weeks we were there. A small refrigerator without a freezer section was provided but no microwave. We tried to order in a pizza the first night we checked in but the front desk would not allow this, and discouraged eating in the room. We could not have even called if our son, who speaks fluent Japanese, were not present. All instructions in the room were Japanese on all the appliances so learning was by trial and error. The wall mounted HVAC unit had a remote control for the fan, heat, AC, and oscillating louver control. It did work well once we learned the control buttons. Other furnishings included a flat screen TV, pay-per-view movie box, TCP/IP cable for the LAN, tea pot, cups, water glasses, a hair dryer, shoe horn, shoe shine tools, and two pairs of disposable slippers which are too small for most American men. The window opened up to allow fresh air in. We could see Mt. Fuji from the room on a clear day. Thee were sheer and opaque curtains.
You stepped up into the bathroom, which was a self-contained room capable of being sprayed with water from anywhere inside. A small tub and hand-held shower sprayer were convenient. The water was very hot, and with good pressure. A dispenser containing body wash, shampoo, and conditioner was provided for bathing. A sink was molded in to the unit and included a shelf to the side. A towel rack for two hand & bath towels and a shelf for toiletry bag was furnished. Additionally disposable razors, toothbrushes, hair brush and wash cloths were provided. Two plastic drinking cups were also provided. And of course a toilet with bidet and heated seat was standard (instructions in Japanese). The light and exhaust vent worked well.
Outside the hotel in the rear was a small stacked coin washer & dryer but beware the water is cold and the dryer took three cycles to dry one wash load. But this was greatly appreciated since there were no laundramats in Sakado to my knowledge. There was a laptop computer in the lobby available for use but keyboard and language were Japanese. There was no printer to print airline boarding passes but the hotel would let you print off their printer for 20 yen per page.
The breakfast was excellent with both Japanese & American items (fish, soup, curry & rice, cooked seaweed salads, garden salad, eggs (raw, hard boiled, scambled), tofu & meat sauce, sausages, toast w/ jelly, and a gelatous dessert. Hot tea and coffee beverages were provided. The staff works very hard to serve a fresh and substantial breakfast from 6:30 - 9:30 AM each day.
Other observations: the ISP blocked web mail so we could not retrieve e-mails but we could Skype. There is a 5% discount if staying 10 or more days. The hotel is about 1.5 - 2 hours from Narita airport depending upon what trains you take. Although the personnel had all studied English in middle and high school, they were not very fluent and it was rare to find anyone who could carry on a conversation. We were fortunate to have our own interpreter.
The management seems to take pride in the facility and strives for a high level of service. This was evident throughout our two week stay and I believe is the reason that this hotel has a high reputation.

Wonderful Japanese Buffet Breakfast

I have stayed at this hotel many times because the staff are friendly and helpful. The Japanese-style buffet breakfast is extensive, and also includes homemade Japanese curry. Every floor has a vending machine and free water. Each room has tea and coffee. Parking can be a little cramped.
