Located in Takahama, Kaemon Ryokan is near the beach. Travelers eager for a bit of culture can stop by Obama City Saba Kaido Museum, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Wakasawan Quasi-National Park and Toriihama Beach. Wakasa Fisherman's Wharf and Enshoji Temple are two other places to visit that come recommended. I had a nostalgic summer vacation.
It was the first time that my family of four used it for a summer bath. When I looked at the word of mouth, there were pros and cons, so the impression I saw for myself was "Good!" .
Opinions are divided on what to ask for accommodation, so if you want something different, you can stay somewhere different. I had a lot of fun and my family was all happy.
【Location】
It is very convenient for swimming in the sea because it is less than 4 minutes walk (measured) to the very beautiful "Wakasa Wada Beach" which has obtained the first international environmental certification in Asia "BLUE FLAG".
Basically there's nothing around, but convenience stores have Lawson and FamilyMart less than two minutes away by car.
It's along the national highway, but I didn't care about the sound of the car at all. The sound of railroad crossings along the road could be heard inside.
【Building】
It's old. It is a Showa building. But it was quaint, and I was very good! I thought the kids would hate it, but they didn't care at all, they were happy. It's like going home to your grandma in the country.
There is also a beautiful house that has been renovated from an old private house that rents out one right next door.
【Facilities】
On the first floor are rooms for eating (private rooms), women's baths, toilets (for men, only on the first floor), and living spaces for people at the inn? The guests will be on the second floor.
At first glance, there were several rooms ranging from 4.5 to 8 tatami mats in Kyoma, and some families rented two rooms without a tatami mat. There are also rooms for overnight guests in separate buildings. The men's room is only on the first floor, so it's a bit inconvenient. But with a new, clean bidet, the toilet seat opens automatically. Every part of the building is thoroughly cleaned. Refrigerators are shared. A pot and cup are also shared, but coffee is available.
There is also a washing machine outside, and after returning from the sea, you put it straight into the washing machine.
【Room】
It's old. It was an eight-tatami mat room. The corridor is divided by sliding doors and cannot be locked from the outside. You can hear the sounds and voices of people walking across the hall or in the room across the hall, so those looking for a quiet private space should go somewhere else. I think the voices and sounds outside are also the best part of the inn, so it was very nice to have an atmosphere. The room has only a TV, a mirror stand, a kimono hanger and a sitting table. The TV and air conditioning are new.
It is a negative point that there is no valuables compartment in the room. The only amenities are bath towels, face towels, toothbrush and yukata. Futons and sets are placed and you can lay them yourself. Pillows are hard.
It was thoroughly cleaned and I felt comfortable.
【bath】
There is a separate building for men. It is an old tiled tub, but it is reasonably large and comfortable. It was like a bath in a seaside inn, old but quaint. This one can also be used as a family bath. The women's room is on the first floor of the inn, renovated, new and very beautiful!
By the way, there is a shower outside the men's bath where you can drop sand and seawater when you return from the sea. When I came back from the sea around 15:00, I was very grateful that they gave me a bath early.
There are also hot spring facilities at the roadside station, which is about a five-minute drive from the inn, so it seems that quite a few people go there.
【meal】
Dinner includes garnishes, tempura, salads, sashimi, boiled dishes, teriyaki scallops and vinegared dishes, and rice is delicious. What was unusual was the soup, some of which was unexpected grapes!? The head chef's specialty is to use grapes from the inn as soup. All of them were delicious, but if you wish, I would like you to increase the amount of sashimi a little bit because it is so close to the sea, and if you have local specialties and specialties.
For breakfast, this is the Japanese breakfast! It was a classic menu, but delicious.

It used to be an elderly couple, but now it's your son? I was really glad to see that the young husband with the astringent voice was the main manager, and he was very thoughtful. My mother still seems to be working, and she was moving a lot. It was nice to feel like a country grandmother.
If you are looking for clean, comfortable and privacy, we recommend a nearby resort hotel. If you want to fully enjoy the Showa-like traditional inn, this is the place for you.
It was the first time we had a full-fledged inn in our home, but we were very happy and enjoyed a nostalgic summer vacation. It was well received by children. If you ever come to Wakasa, I would love to repeat it.

合宿で利用
とても古い旅館でしたが、料理はボリュームがあり、美味しかったです。

親切過ぎて感激しました
若狭和田の海水浴に行くのに、バーベキューと朝食付きプランで1泊しました。予約当日の朝にお電話いただき、電車で行く事を伝えると、駅まで迎えに来て頂けました。13時頃に到着したのですが、予定時刻より早いチェックインも快く引き受けて下さいました。夕食のバーベキュー、ボリュームたっぷりの朝食共に、とても美味しかったです。チェックアウト後も海水浴に行くのに、荷物預かりや帰ってからのシャワーや着替も快くさせて頂きました。その後、駅まで送って下さいました。最初に建物が古いという説明を受けましたが、立派な日本家屋で何不自由なく滞在できました。今までで一番親切な民宿で感激しました。
