Good service and good view at the hot spring

It was a nice experience to dip at a hot spring near the Japan sea. The in-house hot spring is situated at 2nd floor and have perfect view to look at the Japan sea. Furthermore, the receptionist Masa was very helpful. The room charge is reasonable.

If it's in the 20,000 yen range it's fine, but if it's in the 30,000 yen range I'm not satisfied

One star for the beauty of the ocean and the location.
One star for the welcome drink, buns, and coffee service.
One star for the service of the staff at the dining venue.
Three stars in total.
We were staying over for the long weekend, so three 10,000 yen bills were sent out, but I guess it's acceptable for just two people?
The front desk staff at check-in were so rude that I felt they don't usually do this, and I heard the woman next to me explaining it.
There wasn't much variety in the food, and there was no bread at breakfast, so I wish they'd offer more, even if it was a half-buffet.
The hallway to the room had no air conditioning and was hot.
I can't accept three 10,000 yen bills.

Izumo trip

Loved the location and hot spring spa bathing areas but very old dated and mouldy stained carpets
Food was kaiseki Japanese style so maybe half was edible by western standards but was with a 10 year old who couldn't eat it so had to rely on meat for all meals

An aged and dirty hotel

I had booked this hotel simply because it had a room for 5 with western beds (as I was travelling with an elderly), and I was merely using this hotel as a pitstop for my next destination. My expectations were low to start off with and I was not preparing to use the onsen given the reviews. However I was still shocked when I was led to our room. The pictures probably speak for themselves (minus the smell - which was terrible). We asked for a different room but in return we only got an air freshener. We all woke up with itching body the next day. Having said that service was ok, the staff were attentive and welcoming, although it still doesn't prompt me to give another star to my review...
