Perfect Overnight stay

Basic facilities. Rooms are nicely sized and the beds are comfortable. If you're not fussy about just getting the basics, then this is a great place to lay your head down to rest. Arno is friendly and always willing to assist where he can. I have stayed here a few times and checking in can be an issue especially if Arno is not there. Parking is another problem. On my last visit I had to leave the car outside on the pavement parking which I was not very happy to do, but I didn't have any problems. The establishment is in a quiet area and Arno says that they haven't yet had any problems. TV stations are very basic at best so don't count on any entertainment from that angle. Arno did mention that their is a Braai (BBQ) facility but I haven't been to that part or used it in order to give a comment. For a short stay, you won't get cheaper and for the price it does the job.

Bed Bugs, Rats, and No Refund at Ay Jays Guesthouse

This place was absolutely disgusting. The beds were infested with bed bugs that bit my infant child and my partner. The room was filthy, and the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. We even saw rats in the rooms.
Because of the conditions, we couldn’t sleep through the night and left at 3:00 AM, even though we had paid in advance for three nights. The owner refused to give us a refund. When we went to the police station, they told us it was a small claims court matter and that they couldn’t do anything.
I strongly advise others to avoid Ay Jays Guesthouse. If you’re a local authority reading this, please investigate and take action to shut this place down before someone else gets hurt.

Stay away from this place!

We got to this place and the owner was not there. His 10 year old son helped us. He could not even give us a key. The bedding were torn, the braai area were full of empty beer bottles and some dangerous wiring next to our bed. There were not one chair to sit on. There were no pots or pans in the kitchen. We were booked for 5 people and there were only 3 glasses in the cupboard. The place was not 100% clean. We decided not to stay. The owner refused to give our money back.
