Unforgettable vacation
An unforgettable stay at Cube Guest House, Hout Bay
Our stay at Cube Guest House was simply extraordinary and exceeded our expectations in every respect. The location with the breathtaking view of the mountains and the bay is beautiful, the rooms are stylish, modern, and impeccably maintained. A place where one feels comfortable from the very first moment.
However, we would like to give special praise to Taku. He made our stay something truly special. Every morning he prepared an absolutely fabulous breakfast that was not only delicious but also served with great attention to detail. (He painted the temperature for the day in our butter with a toothpick every morning!) Even more impressive was his warmth and willingness to help: Whether it was excursion tips, restaurant recommendations, or organizational questions, Taku was always there to assist us with advice and action. What particularly distinguishes him is his incredibly friendly demeanor. He greeted us every day with an honest smile, good humor, and a hospitality that goes far beyond the usual. You can immediately tell that the well-being of his guests is truly important to him.
The entire team at the Cube Guest House creates a relaxed and personal atmosphere, but Taku was undoubtedly the heart of our stay. Thanks to him, we felt not like guests, but like friends.
We would come back anytime and can recommend the Cube Guest House to anyone who wants to experience Hout Bay and the Cape region at its best. Thank you very much for this wonderful time!

Wonderful 3 night stay in Hout Bay
We had a wonderful stay at Cube Guest House, great breakfast, amazing sea views from the Corner room. Good choice for Breakfast also freshly cooked items.

5 minutes drive from the centre of Hout Bay, this listing offers escapism and accessibility in equal measure. A sandy beach, the stunning Chapman’s Peak Drive and a useful selection of shops, cafe’s & restaurants are all on the doorstep to be experienced. And behind the walls of the property, is an oasis of style, quality and comfort. Minimalist, clean lines, white & bright…be uplifted & energised & chilled ‘all in one’ ! But without doubt, the standout ‘feature’ of The Cube is the unparalleled excellence of Taku and his team. Hailing from Zim, Taku’s clearly embracing all that SA has to offer and the pride he has for the Western Cape and Hout Bay is plain to see - “you have to go to the market on the other side of the Harbour ; it’s amazing and has so much to offer”. We did. It has ! His smile is contagious ; he’s witty & nicely cheeky AND he’s ‘smart’, accountable, utterly engaging and ‘on it’ in any way that makes even the best bits of your experience just that smidgen better ! A true Pro and a potent Advocate. The house staff & gardeners ‘get on’, but do so in a manner so quiet that their effectiveness is cause for sincere admiration. A super stay ! Safe, secure and free on-site parking.

Repetition of the repetition successful!!!
Dirk and his team around Tacco have managed to impress us again. This time there were six of us there with family and friends. We spent 7 nights in the Cube, family and friends only 3 nights. We all really enjoyed it and the 6 of us noticed the very chilled nature of both Tacco and Dirk, especially in comparison to what our friends and family were able to experience afterwards.
The warm interaction with each other and of course with the guests of the house is simply pleasant.
We were last there in 2019 and a few things have changed since then, but it didn't bother us.
So now Tacco and his family live on the property, he is a great host and keeps everything in order and up to date. At breakfast he immediately remembers the preferences of each guest, so that the next morning the cappuccino and fried egg are served almost without being asked - great!!!
Tacco and of course Dirk are helpful in all matters, whether it's carrying suitcases up to the rooms, making restaurant reservations, or repairing a fan that has just stopped working.
Tacco is also always available, no matter what the issue is.
We were able to go on a day trip to Franschhoek with Dirk, which we really enjoyed and where we had a great time chatting with each other - brilliant! When else can you interact with your hotel host like that?
It's this personal way that simply makes a difference...
It doesn't matter that there are small flaws in the room here and there, or that the tiles by the pool are slowly crumbling. At least we found out that this will be fixed in the "winter" in August or September.
The location of the house is still impressive, absolutely quiet with great views in all directions. The pool is another highlight and a welcome refreshment when it's over 30 degrees.
Breakfast is eaten together with all the other guests at one table, so you always find out something about what the other guests are doing and can exchange experiences with each other and of course pick up tips for yourself...
In short: we have found our South African home with the Cube and will of course come back and can only recommend the Cube to anyone who is looking for or needs a bit of connection.
Dirk makes many things possible beyond accommodation, such as restaurant reservations (recently many restaurants want to have a credit card booking, which makes reservations a little more difficult), but also everything that is needed for a connecting trip or excursions with and without a driver is organized by him in a wonderful, almost unnoticeable way.
Our conclusion: repeat, repeat, repeat!

Experience in Cap Town
I had a wonderful time at the Cube guest House. Dirk is a fantastic host. The place is located in a splendid area near the beaches. The rooms are clean and spacious, the breakfast is delicious, the place is very pleasant. You feel relaxed the first second your enter the house. Everything was perfect! Thank you Dirk. I hope to see you soon.
