Ok for a quick visit to Kruger

The lodge is situated on the river with a viewing deck. The rooms are clean but a bit dated. TV is a small monitor with satellite so after your trip to Kruger it's not an ideal size for TV viewers. The lodge is close to the Malelane gate about 10 mins drive and it's very close to the town. The town has several restaurants and supermarkets. The lodge is equipped with stove, fridge. plates, utensils etc. The property manager is very helpful and knowledgeable about the park and the surrounding area.

Clean, comfortable, affordable and great location!

We stayed in River cottage on our way to Kruger NP, and the accomodation was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We decided to use them again on our way out of Kruger NP, before the long trip home. There are some great birds in the garden, and the deck overlooking the Park is excellent. The rooms are in need of an urgent lick of paint, but they are busy renovating.

Another planet!

The River Cottage Lodge is often a stop over on our way to the Kruger or a waiting place while having our car serviced in one of the garages of Malelane. But it deserves to be a destination of its own: it has it all! Not far from the center of Malelane, it is located at the end of long dirt road. Once you reach it, you feel like in the middle of the Kruger. The bungalows are nicely decorated even though a bit old (a full refurbishing is planned for this year), they have a kitchen and fridge, A/C, flat screen TV, fully equipped bathroom, an outside BBQ and private carport. Even though mainly a self catering accommodation, the lodge offers the possibility of a delicious breakfast. A nice small swimming pool overlooks the Crocodile river. And the greatest attraction is the observation deck, facing the river and equipped with wooden chairs. The view is amazing and can keep you busy for hours. The tropical garden is beautiful and the hosts are warm and friendly. A place to enjoy when you need a break

Amazing place. The place to revive your soul

We stayed here on our way to the Kruger National Park. What an amazing place. On the banks of the Olifants river overlooking the Kruger National Park we had the most amazing game views in the comfort of the desk chairs. We had closeup experiences with Elephants that you simply cant explain and one stole and orange from my hand.
Friendly staff, great food and definetly a place I will visit again just to recharge my batteries and get away from the rat race. We spent 4 nights in the Kruger and it could not compare. We booked out and went back to River Cottage Lodge

Magical

Such a magical place only regret is that we didn't stay longer would highly recommend anyone visiting South Africa & Kruger to stay at this place (especially if you are from the UK)
Can't wait to re-visit !!
