Nice place in Panoramic Route
A nice small hotel in the middle of the Panoramic Route. The small house and room were beautiful and spacious, and everything was almost perfect.
You can relax in your room on the terrace or outside next to the river
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately, you can get electricity only from 18.00 until 20.00 and in the morning from 6.00 until 8.00.
Also in our house we didn't have hot water during our whole stay, so it was not nice to take a shower in cold water when outside was very cold.

Wonderful lodge farwest atmosphere in the heart of Blyde river canyon
Treur River Lodge is a small lodge with incredible charm. Away from the road, at the foot of the mountain, by the river, it looks like a ranch in the wild west. The atmosphere is beautiful, like a return to nature. The bungalows are small, a little rustic but very nicely decorated, always in this ranch spirit. The view from the terrace on the river is extremely peaceful. In an ecological approach, electricity is preserved (low lighting, unplugging the fridge at night) but this corresponds to the atmosphere.
The lodge is ideally placed in the middle of the road of panoramas.
The welcome is very friendly and we had dinner twice at the lodge restaurant "le chubby pig": dinner is reserved for hotel guests, we must warn earlier in the day (before 12 noon), and dinner is served at 6pm. Everything is homemade, the dishes are delicious.
We really recommend Treur River Lodge for a beautiful, close to nature experience in the heart of Blyde river canyon.
The lodge is ideally placed in the middle of the road of panoramas.

Quirky and charming
Charming quirky rooms.
Eco friendly, uses solar for lighting and donkey boiler for hot water
No fridge in the room but restaurant kept things for us in the fridge and freezer.
Gas plate in the room with tea and coffee
plates, mugs and utensils available
Melody delightful and friendly and told us about the wild horses over the main road and about the short walk to waterfall on the property
Very tranquil and peaceful.
Restaurant, Chubby pig, serves delicious food, one of the best burgers I've had. Lunch time was busy.

Best sleep of my life
Melody (the owner) was responsive and very helpful, staying in contact with my partner and I when we were unable to come to our first night booked at our chalet due to road issues. And she even offered an additional night in the chalet for no charge, to make up for our night we missed out on. She also was very helpful in telling us how to move onto our next destination and some interesting points to stop at along the way.
When we arrived at the Treur River lodge we were greeted by a very smiley hostess who was happy to get us seated at the Chubby Pig restaurant on sight. My partner and I were extremely happy to get a great lunch, pre-order our dinner, 2 drinks and a dessert for a good price.
We enjoyed the river views and listening to the different birds echoing down the river.
At night we made a fire and chatted under a beautiful blanket of stars, which was completely untouched by light pollution. I particularly loved the idea of being completely off the grid, no cell connection and WiFi made it a perfect place for my partner and I to take in nature and not to be distracted by phones. We slept in the most comfortable bed imaginable with complete silence in the area. We felt extremely safe at the same time!
Great place, we will definitely be back!
