Amazing food!

We just recently ate here. Wow! Very good pepper steak! A must for everyone. Quick food preparation as well. A nice place overlooking Douala harbour. Friendly staff. Didn't like that a photographer was trying to take pictures of us while we were sitting there.

Loud music prevents you from sleeping

If you like really loud music with a DJ screaming at midnight this is the place for you. If you want to sleep. Don’t stay here.
Other issues. Transparent curtain that lets the giant fluorescent light illuminate your room at night. Several cockroaches. A shower door missing.
The restaurant need to be improved. The minced curry chicken was a baked half chicken of some sort. Breakfast is supposed to be at 730am. But all there was in the kitchen was someone cleaning. Overall slow poor service for an empty restaurant.
So in recap. If u want to get drunk and passout come here. If u want to sleep. Stay away.

Good price, central location and beer on tap

When staff works a the same hotel for 30 years I think there's a reason. Many folks here seem to be regulars, returning customers. So am I now...The price is right, rooms quiet and spacious. English is spoken, and a little German too. Food brought back memories of homecooked German food...where else do you get a Thueringer in Cameroon?
Good location to reach the airport in reasonable time.

Comfortable and central

This is an old well established Hotel with German roots reflected in the cuisine , rather homey and simple. The dining area overlooking the highway below and the back of the port is a pleasant place to view the sunset over Mt Cameroon. Has beer on tap. Often a light breeze offers respite from the humid air. Rooms are comfortable, basic. The staff quite friendly. Not much nearby to encourage walkabout though...

Cheapest place around with a pool

Because we are seafarers we were able to swim here free of charge - I don't know if this is the case for everyone.
As with the rest of Douala, everything is quite expensive, but much less than other places around (so I'm told, we didn't eat anywhere else after hearing the prices).
The pool is a good size, and fairly clean considering it's rainy season.
There isn't much shelter around the pool, so if you want to sit by the pool you will get sunburnt or wet depending on the weather.
There is sheltered seating, but you can't really supervise the pool from those areas.
The food is basic, Africans cooking Western style food. It was all well cooked and timely so no complaints. The waiter spoke good English, though I wouldn't assume that all the staff can.
The toilets were clean, with toilet paper and soap. And there was enough room to change in as well.
Apparently there is internet access, but only if you are staying in the accommodation.
