This hotel is a gem. The location outstanding. You can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful lake view. The only complaint is the water pressure in the morning. We had no water for 5 minutes. Than it came back as a dripple for another 5 minutesWhen it came back it changed between burning hot and ice cold. Luckily it happen

A large motel facing the lake, a bit tired, needs to be renovated. Comfortable, plenty of things to see around, good breakfast, fine for two nights, no more.

Some thoughts..

The location is convenient for accessing the Cabot Trail heading towards Cheticamp. We had a lakeview room and the views are quite nice. A previous review stated the pool was not functioning, however, it appeared operational by the time we passed through in late July.
This is an older motel that has had some cosmetic updates. Those updates don't hide the fact that there was evidence of issues with moisture and humidity in our room. Our room also had a very unpleasant odour. Perhaps this is not everyone's experience but was ours.

Exceeded expectations!
Clean, updated room, with much appreciated extra chairs. Parking near room was easy. Convientent location with easy access to Baddeck, Cabot Trail, and nearby family. WiFi was above average for the area and adequate for staying connected and completing minor tasks.
2 entrances to room 1 from hallway and 1 from outside. Buffet breakfast was great, especially vegetarian options. Looking forward to the addition of dinner in the future. The view was incredible.
The owner checked in with us personally during our stay and his family saw to our needs. They even had spot on recommendations for keeping a teenager engaged on our trip. The knowledgeable, personal touch made this a stand out stay.
We will definitely be staying here on our next trip to Cape Breton!

Unexpectedly great motel / resort

When my wife reserved the place, I didn't have high expectations, but it was really nice! This was clearly a labor of love by the people that own it. They converted what was probably a typical roadside motel, into somewhat of a quaint resort.
Fantastic view of the lake. Really good continental buffet breakfast, and the dining area was huge! This place would actually be great for a wedding!
Additionally is was very clean and the staff were tremendously friendly.
