Surprisingly good for the low price.

In spite of being very near to the airport and next to a fire station this place was remarkably quiet. Very comfortable. Room was clean. Front desk staff were helpful. Breakfast included eggs, bacon or sausage, pancakes, muffins, cereal, yoghurt, toast , coffee, tea, juices. Kitchen and breakfast room staff were attentive. There were renovations ongoing, but they were not intrusive.
The only thing that is a bit quirky is the access to the hotel, which requires that you look around the fire station and then enter on what is essentially an alley. Could be better signed.

Just don’t. Please don’t stay at this hotel.

We booked three Best Western hotels during our trip to Alberta, and all of them were awful. Stay away from Best Western at all costs.
The Best Western Airport Inn in Calgary was especially strange. If you want to feel like Harry Potter, Cinderella, or the unloved member of the Best Western family, ask for Room 101, 103 or 105. The street facing windows in these rooms are blocked by intermodal shipping containers, while the rooms on the other side face directly onto the pool, which is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
There was a wooden electrical panel, a garbage container labeled "Don't Touch" in the hallway leading to the rooms, dirty items left in the hallway, and a refrigerator that was rusted through.

The staff was excellent. The hotel was older, torn wrinkle carpet and the beds were hard. The staff made it a good experience. Kudos to them.

Not often I have to write stuff like this . . .

There's Best Western and there's Second-best western. Call me picky but no shuttle bus and a $50 taxi ride from the airport means it doesn't really qualify as a proper airport hotel for me. Location? I'd call it interesting, like it's in hiding (and one side of the Best Western sign has gone missing). Handy for Denny's more-or-less across the street. By the time I walked into Reception, my opinion was already formed: "not really". Only a small difference in room price with the Plaza but, as an experience, a whole wide world away. Chalk and cheese. The room? Interesting. It looked like someone had gone round, removing features (like asset-stripping?) and hoping it wouldn't be noticed if a piece of wallpaper might hide what's gone. Correction: pieces. Several. And then there's breakfast. Imagine a taxi-drivers canteen. Places like this don't have an ambience. Dunno what the word is. It should include eating my cereal from a paper bowl, with a recyclable spoon. The food was okay, I suppose, but . . . to be honest: but quite a lot of buts, really. Sorry.

i have never ever experienced this quality of BW hotel. This hotel must be one star grade.
