Totally Fine

Decent location. Typical service for a small scale hotel. Small continental breakfast was decent with a selection of hot and cold items. Did not need to interact with staff much but when we did they were pleasant. I would stay here again if in the area. The hotel was also very clean and pillows were super comfy. Accomodating when it came to my reservation. The TV's could be updated to smart TV's as thats what the majority of hotels have now and the water pressure was very poor but not deal breakers for me. Again, not deal breakers, just observations. No actual hotel concerns.

Tired but Acceptable in a Town With Limited Options

The Comfort Inn is one of only a handful of hotels in Gander. It is a little tired, even by Comfort Inn standards, but there are not many obviously better options in town.
Ignore the advertising. While the hotel claims to be a four-star hotel, this is at best a 3-star roadside motel.
The staff were polite and welcoming. My room was well-appointed, although the decor looked like something from a Holiday Inn Express circa 2006. Everything seemed to work, and the furniture was in good condition. It was simply past due for an update. New carpet, a new TV, new window coverings, and added USB outlets would go a long way.
The bathroom looked considerably older than the rest of the room. The shower, in particular, felt more like something you might find at a gym or youth hostel than in a hotel. Even replacing the shower head would go a long way toward improving the experience.
My room also had a kitchenette with relatively new-looking appliances. However, there was no dishwasher, which somewhat defeats the purpose of having a kitchenette — particularly when daily housekeeping is not provided.
The room otherwise appeared clean, but the refrigerator had clearly been overlooked. I found half-eaten food left behind by a previous guest.
The complimentary breakfast was extremely basic. You can get a much better breakfast at Tim Hortons.
All things considered, I would probably stay here again because accommodations in Gander are limited. However, I would check the available Airbnb options before booking another stay.

Adequate

It was clean and secure and conveniently right on the highway, which is all we needed on an overnight stop on a long road trip.
My wife said their breakfast buffet was very bare-bones.
The staff (overnight and morning) were inoffensive but unremarkable.

A good basic property although could use a refresh. There is not a lot of competition in this town so I do think that this was maybe the best choice.

Good bed, great staff, good breakfast. Shower water only warm. Front power door a challenge to get to work
I would definitely stay again.
