We really enjoyed our stay and the view from our room. The private floating dock was a real bonus and everyone of the staff was exceptional. We highly recommend this hotel.

Decent Choice Despite Drawbacks

The room was clean and recently renovated. Staff were friendly. View was great and parking was included, ample, and appeared safe. Be aware, however, that the restaurant remains closed so meals must be had elsewhere. It’s about a ten minute walk to some pretty solid choices. Be aware also that the air conditioning failed to handle the July heat. The room was 25 degrees Celsius on arrival and did not change (even with the settings on full) until sundown. No fan was provided despite a request for one.

Very Nice Stay with Beautiful Lake Views—Just a Few Missed Opportunities

We stayed here while visiting Kenora and found it to be one of the nicest hotels in the area. Our king room with a lake view was excellent—modern, spotless, tastefully decorated, and very comfortable. I especially loved the cozy armchair by the window, which was the perfect place to enjoy my morning coffee while overlooking the lake. The bathroom was somewhat small but well designed, with a nice walk-in shower.
One drawback in the room was the window coverings. The draperies didn't extend all the way to the floor, so quite a bit of early morning sunlight streamed into the room. If you're hoping to sleep past sunrise—especially during the long summer days in northern Ontario—you may want to pack an eye mask.
The hotel's biggest drawback is the lack of an on-site restaurant. We were told it's been "closed for renovations" for about three years, which seems hard to believe. For a hotel of this caliber, it was disappointing to have to leave the property just to find breakfast or even a cup of coffee. The revolving top floor would make an incredible restaurant with spectacular views, so hopefully it will reopen someday. Given the nightly rate, I expected a more complete hotel experience.
The front desk staff were pleasant enough but not especially warm or engaging. We also received an unusual phone call one morning asking if a woman had been knocking on our door. The staff member repeatedly said "good morning" before explaining why she was calling, which left us a bit confused.
Outside, the parking lot is overdue for resurfacing and is filled with potholes. We also noticed people loitering near the entrance, which wasn't the best first impression. During the night, we were disturbed by guests repeatedly going in and out of a nearby room after 11:00 p.m.
On the positive side, the location is convenient, with several restaurants and coffee shops about a 10-minute walk away.
Despite a few shortcomings, we enjoyed our stay. If the restaurant were reopened, the parking lot refreshed, and a few service details polished, this would easily be a five-star property.

Great rooms and property. Must get a restaurant and breakfast. Must also get coffee in lobby in morning, the machine there now is junk!

View of the lake was excellent from our lake front room. Room was modern and very comfortable. Parking was convenient and included in the room price. The addition of the floating dock lounge area was excellent. Our only complaint was that there was no bar or restaurant in the hotel.
