Communist Style at Capitalist Prices

If the Soviet Union still existed, we imagine that prefab Proletariat housing built in the 2020s would look something like this on the inside.
Check-in is beyond a security gate---awkward start. The process itself was quick and we were soon on our way to our room. Staff seem nice. The corridors look cool and modern. It was all downhill from here.
There is no TV. Air conditioning inadequate (obvious penny pinching). The blinds are so ineffective that they remind us of thin dollar store paper towels. There is no way to make this room totally dark no matter how late it is.
There is no coffee/tea stand, no closet, and a bathroom so tiny it cannot fit a wash basin inside---that is tucked away in another corner.
The furniture is the most poor quality, utilitarian, and oddly proportioned pieces I've seen anywhere in the world. The bed is weirdly high for no reason; the cheap mattress doesn't require it. The chair is an all metal abomination that looks like it belongs in a prison cell, not rental accommodation. The room is fitted for but not with a fridge. See attached picture to see what I mean.
We've stayed in dorms before without incident. They are usually worth the trade-off between quality and price. This one is NOT. They charge almost hotel prices for the worst modern dorm I've seen.

No service

It's very expensive for the benefits it offers. It does not even have a service to hold 2-3 hours of luggage if you arrive before the room delivery. We were referred for custody to a store that was quite a distance away and we had to drag the suitcases up there to eventually leave them with an extra payment of $20, in a warehouse that was in the back of a store, which offered this service informally.
We also made the room reservation for 2 nights, due to the strike of AirCanada, which at the last minute notified us to finally go to the airport because our flight will be made. However, after we checked in on the flight and cancelled the room, Air Canada informed us again that eventually our flight will not take place (serious treatment of passengers!). Although within half an hour of the cancellation we called the property and asked to finally reserve the room, the answer we got from a rude girl at the reception was that our room existed, but we would have to pay again at 2 nights, because our original payment had been held as a cancellation penalty. In general, I would not suggest anyone stay there.

Disadvantageous value for money

This accommodation is very well located, very close to the city center and metro. Our room was spacious but offered few amenities (no fridge, no TV). However, there was a lot of storage. Cleanliness was not optimal (the floor had apparently not been cleaned, the walls were dirty in places). Fortunately, the breakfast buffet was excellent. In short, it was not worth the price we paid to stay there, even in high season.

Good location, subway + mall is less than a 7 min walk. The club street, st Laurent is also about a 16 min walk so lots of things are near by

It is a simple school residence with no TV, fridge, electric kettle, hair dryer, glasses, clothes hangers and lugguge storage. If you arrive before the check in time, only the security guard is on duty and no check in procedures can be made. You may consider depositing the luggage at another hotel two blocks away from the school residence with charges required. The storage fee for each item is $8. No housekeeping during our 4 nights' stay. Towels will be changed every 3 days.
The terribe experience occurred when the toilet was clogged during our first night's stay. The staff provided you with a small pump and you had to solve the problem by yourself. Do not expect any assistance rendered to you! Worse of all, there was no vacant room available that we could change to another room. The staff refused to refund the room rate to us if we moved to another hotel. It happened that there was Formula 1 match during our stay and it was extremely difficult to find alternative accomodation. The only solution was to use the public toilets near the front desk. It was extremely unbearable to stay in such an awful and smelly room for one night. Horrible experience, bad customer service, never come back!
