Great contemporary make over - but the desk.
Just checked in to the newly renovated rooms at the property. Love the contemporary design. Bright and modern. The bed area now has all the modern USB & USC ports. Better lighting. Bathrooms got a good refresh as well. Hard wood floors and modern art touches are great. There isn’t much storage for cloths. But the big negative is the desk. It’s a tiny work space and has a huge leg that makes it hard to get your legs under. You came work on it and order room service. So not functional. Also no power which is odd. I think they will have to rethink this. I won’t be able to order room service and work anymore. But overall an amazing improvement. Best room in the city with the exception of the desk. Hope they fix that.

Good Stay, Good Sleep
Super luxe. Everything you know about upscale hotel and the Westin lives up to the reputation. Great breakfast and excellent service in all departments. The only thing is that the bathtub is very slippery and I had to place a small towel at the bottom to prevent falling as I am a senior lady. They could do with another vertical hand grip on the wall to help getting in and out of the tub.

Central and well-maintained.
The Westin Ottawa is a good hotel, spacious rooms, bathroom still with a bathtub and a shower that is not exceptional. They are doing some renovations in the lobby, but they did not affect the quality of sleep. Parking under the hotel, excellent location for visiting the center on foot. Reasonable price. I recommend it.

I had high hopes for this hotel, but the reality fell well short.
The arrival experience sets the tone: the street out front has visible drug use, and you have to navigate around construction workers pushing wheelbarrows of rocks just to reach the entrance, as there's little room for pedestrians. Once inside, the main lobby is under construction, so guests are routed through a hallway lined with construction materials to reach the elevators. Check-in itself happens at a makeshift desk in what looks like a converted storage room — there's no one to greet you at the door, and the whole entry sequence feels disorganized and unwelcoming.
The rooms themselves were subpar. The views were a genuine highlight, but everything else felt like an afterthought. The bathroom, in particular, was a low point — cheaply finished, with a shower that didn't feel clean or well-maintained. The toilet didn't flush properly, and based on conversations with other guests, this wasn't isolated to my room — it appears to be a hotel-wide issue.
Housekeeping/turndown service was minimal at best: towels were left on the floor, used washcloths remained in the shower, beds were made carelessly, and trash wasn't emptied. There's also no convenience store on-site, which would have been a nice amenity given the other shortcomings.
Overall, this felt less like a hotel stay and more like navigating a construction zone to reach a mediocre room. For the price point, I'd expect significantly more.

Staff very friendly. Location is absolutely perfect to walk downtown. Hotel currently in renovation to modernize the Hall and rooms and it was due. Not the best time to book a stay there now, but glad they are making reno for the future
