Premium location, comfortable, spacious rooms with kitchens

A picture of modern Turkey’s founder, Kemal Atatürk, on the wall behind the reception, coupled with the motel’s name, clued me that the owners, Saba and Zerrin Sahin, are Turkish.
“So are my in-laws,” I told them.
That got us chatting. Turns out theirs is the most veteran of motels along the western end of the Lake Okanagan boardwalk at the northern end of Penticton, which they bought and have been running since 1980.
The bathroom lacked a fan, but there is a clerestory window at the back for ventilation. Otherwise, the suite was very comfortable and spacious (living room, bedroom & bathroom), with a kitchen including full-sized fridge, four-ring electric stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, basic supply of pots, pans, dishes and cutlery—everything one needs for basic self-sufficiency during one’s stay. Parking just outside the room, at ground floor, makes for very convenient transfer of one’s stuff from the car to the room and vice versa. The motel sits directly opposite the main entrance/ramp to the beach, so can’t be bettered location-wise. We don’t know when we’ll stay again at the northern end of Penticton, which is noticeably windier and cooler than the southern end, but if we do, the Black Sea Motel will be a preferred place to stay.

Bad feeling

very rude person working there swearing.we just moved to Penticton.was looking at the place to maybe recommend to friends or family.the place was almost empty ,hardly no one staying there.will not recommend because of the person following us in a car in the parking lot scareing me.

Great location across from beach, friendly owner but not very clean/organized for the high price we paid as nightly rate

Our bathroom wasn't very clean, microwave wasn't clean, no kitchen towels. We didn't see any cleaners around during our visit to have this addressed. We were not asked how our stay was going like most of the smaller motels do. Owners seems bit disorganized or short-staffed. The seating/barbecue area was complete mess. No common area to relax; only the beach across the street. Back gate was locked so tricky to get in/out with large vehicle. Unless they cleaned up the property/rooms, we would not go back or recommend. Expected alot cleaner for the price.

Very comfy.

Clean, comfy, quiet. Very comfy bed. The lake is just across the way. There is a paddle boat, museum right there also. Very nice area of Penticton. Out of the business of town. Very nice for walks. Restful.

Excellent value for money

The Black Sea is great value for money. The rooms are big, the beds are comfortable and the location is spot on. What the Black Sea lacks in luxury decor, it more than makes up for it in location, value for money & friendly staff.
