They don't make them like this anymore

We were on a full roadtrip and needed a one night stay my Partner normally chooses this but I got to choose and I definitely made the right decision. It's in a lovely position right at the top of Town with ample free parking. We were met at reception by Sandy who immediately made the stay. He is what's known as a character very friendly and super proud of his Hotel that is spotlessly clean and as quirky and unique as any I have stayed in. The Town itself was mostly closed but again that didn't spoil our short trip as we found a place open on the shore and had a lovely meal. The room in the Hotel was unbelievably quiet and we had a wonderful nights sleep and then in the morning you get what Sandy says is the only silver service breakfast around and I don't doubt it. Fresh homemade yoghurt with granola and wild blueberries . I think you have to stay here for the experience alone but the Hotel is wonderful too. A full five stars and highly recommended ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Terrible

The owner Sandy made a comment that we were cheap as we had booked a queen bed room and not a king. We purchased desserts and were not allowed to eat them in our room. I needed my own pillow and while we were out his wife went into our room and packed it up. When we came back from dinner, we were greeted by the owners and they were not friendly and reprimanded us on our own pillow etc . Orders to immediately take to our vehicle. Breakfast was pathetic and Sandy never shuts up. Next night we stayed at another B & B in Pictou and it was amazing. Nothing like The Scotsman Inn.

What a great experience!!! Hosts went out of their to make sure we were looked after. Rooms and dining room were so well furnished and decorated. A definite “old world” British feel. Rooms are not large but it added to the experience. Highly recommended.

Lovely European treatment in Nova Scotia, Canada

The Scotsman Inn was an amazing place to unwind for a few days. The owners, Cathy and Sandy, went out of their way to make sure everyone was well taken care of. From the minute we arrived we were treated like family. To welcome all the guests they give you a complimentary glass of wine. The Inn itself is very well taken care of. There was a balcony that you could get together with other travellers and we met people from the US, BC and Germany. The rooms were lovely. We were very lucky to get the room with the king size bed and had 2 lovely nights of sleep. When we down for breakfast the first morning we were greeted by Sandy, decked out in his kilt. Nothing makes you feel more welcome than a man wearing a kilt. We had a lovely silver service breakfast on beautiful china. The breakfast was yogurt, micro blueberries and granola with coffee or tea. It was served with a warm croissant just out of the oven. The walk to the ocean is 5 minutes,away where there are small shops, restaurants and a lovely boardwalk. Happily we found this place last minute and it was such a great decision to stay there. I couldn't recommend this Inn more highly. If you need a place to rest your tired body this is the place to be.

Top-notch hospitality

Sandy and Cathy are the absolutely best hosts in all of Nova Scotia! Be prepared to climb up some stairs to the common areas and to your room, so take their advice and bring in only a small bag. Lots of parking behind the inn and a lovely, huge second-floor deck with ample seating where guests gathered to chat and sip wine (which Sandy graciously offered). Be sure to stay for the breakfast, which Sandy serves in style (see for yourself). Our night at the Scotsman was one of the highlights of our trip.
