Meticulous authenticity and cleanliness. Excellent service.
My husband and I spent a wonderful night at Cambie Lodge in Vancouver. From the moment we arrived, I was impressed by the meticulous paintwork on the front porch, which gave the property a welcoming and well-cared-for appearance.
We arrived several hours before the official check-in time because our flight had landed early and our Lyft driver had brought us directly to the lodge. I wasn't sure whether we would be able to stay, but the staff greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome immediately. As it turned out, our room was already ready. Even if it hadn't been, they assured us that we were welcome to relax and enjoy the common areas.
After taking our luggage upstairs, we enjoyed an easy walk of about six blocks to find something to eat. Later, I spent about an hour relaxing on the beautiful front porch before retreating to the shared living room, where I enjoyed browsing the books available to guests. The kitchen and common spaces were light, elegant, and inviting.
That evening, we relaxed in our room, watched television, and enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep.
The next morning, we were treated to a delicious breakfast and pleasant conversation with fellow guests in the shared dining area. It was a delightful start to the day and a perfect ending to our stay.
I highly recommend Cambie Lodge to travelers who appreciate a peaceful atmosphere, comfortable accommodations, and the opportunity to enjoy a bit of friendly companionship over breakfast while still having plenty of solitude.

Cambie Lodge is conveniently located near downtown and Stanley Park. The house is charming from the outside and has a pleasant outdoor seating area.
However, the interior is quite dated. Our room was small, with a tiny pedestal sink beside the bed because the bathroom contained only the toilet and shower/tub. The biggest issue was the noticeable musty smell in the room and linens. Although the bedding appeared clean, the odor affected our comfort. The pillows were lumpy and had only standard pillowcases without protective covers, although the mattress did have a protective barrier.
The shower had very low water pressure, and the temperature fluctuated quickly from comfortable to extremely hot. Toiletries were provided, including conditioner. The air conditioner cooled the room well but was loud. There was also a good-sized mini refrigerator, small television, coffee maker, and coffee. Rooms are cleaned on the third day rather than daily, and street noise could be heard at night.
Breakfast was served at the neighboring B&B, reached by a short path. The staff were very friendly, and offerings included made-to-order eggs, a vegetable omelet, French toast, fresh fruit, muffins, yogurt, and cereal.
Overall, the location, breakfast, and staff were the strongest aspects. However, given the musty smell, uncomfortable pillows, and bathroom and shower setup, I did not feel the accommodations matched the price and would not stay again.

Convenient location in a beautiful neighborhood of historic homes. The staff were gracious and accommodating. We did hear a few sirens in the night as we had the windows open to cool the room (no air conditioning available).

Parking is terrible. The one tv did not work in bedroom.
