Open for busniness!
They've remodeled and are taking reservations. Hidden with no signs indicating location and not many customers. You have to go to hostel next door help find the entrance. The caretaker is a very friendly, helpful woman. Breakfast is included, but it was too expensive when compared to hostels.

They never responded to my requests for a refund
I booked to stay here in the summer of 2013, July 26, to be exact, and they charged my Chase card. I did not wind up staying here, and every time I called for a refund they said they would call me back and they never did. I lost $387.82 and Chase never did anything to get my money back. Lessons learned: don't affiliate with Urban Hideaway. Don't use Chase when Amex is available.

This place is closed FYI
My interactions with the owner beforehand were great, but unfortunately as another reviewer mentioned this place closed pretty unexpectedly. Luckily I did not prepay so I didn't run into any issues with refunds, but it was certainly an unpleasant surprise 2 weeks before the trip.

Cancelled my reservation 2 days before arrival!
Absolute joke
Booked in March to Stay on June 30th. Paid a deposit of £30 for the weekend only to be sent a generic email 2 days before my arrival stating that my booking was cancelled. No reason given, no refund issued.
I didn't know, but it was Canadian Independence weekend. So everywhere was booked up by this time and I had no choice but to spend over 3 times as much on accommodation or sleep on the streets.
Clearly they got a better offer or more money from a different guest. Fail to see how a solo traveller can be cancelled when booking nearly 4 months in advance.
Emailed them about this and didn't even get a reply.

Terrible - was the worst part of our trip to Vancouver
This "guesthouse" or "hostel" was terrible. We had just driven a few hours from Whistler in pouring rain and were tired. We arrived at 6pm and we were met with some guy in dreadlocks (another guest) and the owner, Patrick who said "where have you been? You have made us wait for you since midday" - it's not like we could call- we didn't have roaming. Also saying that in front of another guest is just plain unprofessional.
Then he preceded to make us take our shoes off and leave our bags at the front door - we preferred to keep our bags with us but he insisted with a little intimidation that he could not show us around with our bags attached - stupidest thing I have ever heard.
While showing us around he proceeded to tell us bad jokes and said we should tell him when we are leaving so he can review where we are going and tell us the best way of doing it. When we didn't laugh at his jokes he said "what's wrong with you? You are not laughing - what have I ever done to you?" - I was feeling uncomfortable at this...
The guesthouse was dirty as if he doesn't know how to use a vacuum cleaner or even a broom, no windows were open and it smelt very musty and just - bad! The room we had booked was a twin. He tried to get us to upgrade to a double room with a double bed but wanted us to pay the difference - when we said no he was like "but you are together - not friends - don't you want to share a bed?" - what a jerk.
Our room was OK - it was still a bit musty but luckily the window was able to be opened - so by the end of the three nights we had booked, the room was ok smelling.
I forgot to take my shoes off once and he told me off as if I was some naughty child that he was very disappointed in. "We are trying to keep the place clean"
When we left we had to pay CASH - dodgy if you ask me. Not worth the $160 AUD a night - no way!
The only reason we booked this place was because it was recommended by the Lonely Planet - we have since found out that it has been removed for the updated versions of the Canada Lonely Planet. And for good reason - terrible.
