Best stay on Statia!!!!!

The Quill Garden was probably our favorite hotel stay ever. Marisol takes excellent care of all the guests and Anton is the best chef on the island. Breakfast is amazing. The views are gorgeous. The room is huge and beautiful, the shower is hot, the bed is big and comfortable. But the service is the true difference and our only regret was we had to leave!!! We will be back!

Marisol and Anton were absolutely wonderful hosts. The room itself was huge and gorgeous, the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. The views were second to none, but the service was what truly made the difference. You are in excellent hands and Anton is an amazing chef, the best on the island! We would definitely return happily!!!!! We are experienced travelers and this was our favorite hotel stay ever!!!

Honest review.....

Large house with a bed and breakfast feel to it and large pretty basic rooms with average comfort overall. Bed comfortable, room seating not so much. Quiet. Nice pool and views from pool/deck/eating area. Pretty remote so need a car otherwise its a $15 cab ride one way to town etc which adds up. Dinner was very good with good wine selection, both reasonably priced. Was not aware there was no breakfast or dinner served on a Saturday (and maybe Sunday?) but was offered a $15 breakfast coupon to a restaurant in town but that was a $15 cab ride each way! How about a free ride?? Hmmnn....Would stay in town if not renting a car, possibly stay if are renting car but still pricey for what it is in our opinion.

Beautiful inn with terrific views on a quiet, small island

This is a beautiful, elegant but very comfortable small inn in the interior of St. Eustatius with drop dead gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside. mountains and ocean. The inn has a beautiful pool, surrounded by really nice tropical gardens. Innkeepers Herman and Joyce are very hospitable and cook up 4 star breakfasts on weekdays (on weekends guests are covered for breakfast at a restaurant in the town) and a few days a wee, they cook delicious dinners, including an Indonesian rijstaffel. St. Eustatius isn't for everybody: no nightlife, and although there are beaches, the surf is rough and there isn't much ocean swimming. Lots of historical stuff to see, nice hiking/walking trails, snorkeling and scuba diving are great, people are very friendly, and our impression was that crime is virtually nonexistent. We had a wonderful time. We'd strongly recommend renting a car (ours cost 40 US$ daily) so you can get around the island and try out some other restaurants. The roads can be rough: not all of them are paved, but there is very little traffic.
